Napier - Taihape road??

Is the Napier - Taihape road fully sealed now?

Last I heard there were still a few ks left to seal.

I hope not! I plan on going that way for a play in the gravel next time I'm riding through.

I went over that way at Easter. A 25 - 30 km section of gravel in the middle, otherwise a nice piece of road. Not much traffic either.

It will probably remain unsealed in the centre 30-odd k section UNLESS it becomes a Transit controlled numbered highway

My neighbour's daughter lives in Waiouru so they travel frequently there.
He said last week that it is going to be totally sealed and I think he said some has already been done Taihape end.
Once sealed it will make an excellent biker road, especially for those who dont like using their sprotsbikes as scramblers like me.:done:

Rangitkei council is sealing their portion (over half) but napier side are buggering around. Might be 2010 or later for total sealing.
