Finally found some coin to purchase a hugger from the states. Wen't to LJ Smits and bought half a litre of paint match and sprayed the hugger and undertail which i had previously bought from ebay aswell.
Am really pleased with the result, it really changes the look of the bike, sort of completes it.
Thought i'd put a pic up of my daughter learning how to whip aswell. :)

Very nice :niceone:
Would need to see something like this in the flesh for myself before deciding to get one for my SV first though. Would imagine it will be a lot easier to keep your bike cleaner now.
I'm surprised you managed to find some paint that matches? What brand and colour was the paint?

Yeah, that blue paint is awesome. Its a base coat/clear coat. Was painting it outside in the daylight, the metallic base doesn't look like anything until you put the clear over it, then it just comes alive!

I bought it via ebay from a user called workingsupraman, it was actually a secondhand hugger, so was in fair condition when i got it and was painted in the suzuki copper colour. He also has new huggers for sale, but this cost me about half that.

Keeping the bike clean was one of the main reasons i wanted a hugger (since removing the spade a while ago), to try and stop dirt and shit landing on the pillion seat area.
An automotive paint supplier will be able to help you with a paint match, they have suzuki colours listed in there books.
I was supposed to actually spray a metallic silver base on first and then a blue tint over that, but the guy at Smits put the blue tint in with the silver to make it less hassle for me. I then sprayed 2k clear over it.
I would definately recommend putting a hugger on that sv of yours.

If you havent already may pay to go get a roll of the clear paint protector and put some on the undertray, when i fitted mine i quickly found the stones chip the paint off pretty quick,a few bits of the protector and no more chips, cant even really tell its on there.

True, i did notice when i removed the undertail for painting that the orginal black gelcoat did have chips in it, and i didn't take much notice. I will definately be putting some clear film on now. Cheers for that

Yeah paint names are a lil crazy these days............"fu fu orange"...."ducks breath yellow" lol. But yeah seriously now it is Cobalt Blue. Has bucket loads of oyster & pearl in it to give it that deep shiny look. Suzi may have some other funky name for it

Looks good, it was always my intention to put the hugger on my SV but didnt get the chance. Even if I am not a fan of the baby blue colour (go the K6 Dark Blue) , the matching hugger and under tray really make a difference.

yeah, suzuki don't offer many colour choices per year. But i prefer the light blue myself

Looks great mate... I've a rear seat cover, grab rail replacement, and the fairing fillers, in black, if you feel like more painting :)

It looks very nice, and that's a lovely blue! :niceone:

Yeah, my bike's the same - it's "Candy Tahitian Blue" or somesuch, and is very difficult to get right. I went to Smits a few months back to get some paint, ad two of the guys both had a go at mixing a pot of paint for me, but gave up. They were both pretty close, but like your bike, the original paint job was several coats, and in sunlight a one-pot paint can't match it perfectly. Originally, there's a black undercoat, a basecoat with silver and blue, then another coat with blue and purple, then clear top coats.
As it is, the bike's had some repair work done on it, and the various fairing parts are different shades of the same colour, as whoever resprayed it didn't do it properly, and some of the fairing pieces are black ABS whereas others are white. :eek5:
One day, I'll have to have the whole bike resprayed, as every panel has scratches and chips.
Anyway - your SV looks very nice - well done!

What do you mean, are they for sale or do you need them sprayed for your bike. Have you had your bike resprayed. I wouldn't mind a rear seat cover actually.

damn.....nice Sv-1000. Its a seriously underated bike here in the states. I think my brain would shut down trying to decide between that and an Fz-1.
Good work on the hugger. It does kinda complete the bike.

Was $126 landed. As i said it was a second hand hugger. A new hugger from the guy would have been $165 landed.
