WTB 150/250cc sports bike - FXR, CBR, GSXR etc under 2700$

My brother had some success in purchasing a bike, and now i wish to get one too! He got a Suzuki FXR150 which was nice bike for me to also learn on. Anywayz, I'm hoping to purchase a nice sports looking bike which is 1987 or younger. 150-250cc. I wouldn't mind a FXR150 myself (but I like my brother are borderline for it, because we're so tall (6ft4ish) or a faster bigger 250cc such as a CBR250 or something. Drop me a line in here or PM if you're selling something along those lines (but only in Auckland area please, can't afford the extra for shipping). I'm hoping to spend no more than 2200$ for a 150 or about 2700$ for a bigger nicer bike. Thanks!

Have a look at the link in my signature. You'll be hard pressed to find a CBR or ZXR in reasonable condition for the sort of money you're offering... but I reckon mine's an excellent alternative. Let me know what you think :niceone:

I second that. Buy Tommorth's rg150. The rg looks awesome in the flesh don't be put off buy the stickers which make it look like a toy. Its all one colour under the stickers if that helps.

Its just as fast as a ZXR250 or cbr250. Finding a good condition 4 stroke sports bike for under $2700 might take a while. Unless you want a piece of crap thats gonna cost you money in the long run.


EDIT: The rg might actually be a bit small for you. But do take a look at one.

I was almost going to bid on it myself, but I'd prefer a physically bigger 250...

Ah. They do come up every now and then. So I'd keep an eye out as they go for around $1500 depends on the condition.

rekon you would have to be pretty big not to fit on a rg im 6 2 and 85 kilos and had no problem fitting on mine only problem is your arse really starts to hurt after 2 hours

There are quite a few on trademe - had an FZR and a CBR-R offered to me for $2500, almost went for one but decided to wait for a better FZR's auction to finish (better condition, bit more $$ though). The CBR-R looked in pretty reasonable shape from the pics, but I'm a bit reluctant to spend money on an unseen bike.

It seems that any bike that has a low reserve (usually because it's been listed twice previously without success) will go for less than the owner was previously asking - which is a good thing imo... they're generally horribly overpriced.
