hey, I've been thinking about making a wooden kicker for my little paddock at home, so that I can move it around the place, instead of a dirt jump. Has anyone made one / got any plans for one? I was thinking along the lines of 3 meters long and 1 meter tall, just to practice on.
any tips, ideas or help would be awesome! :2thumbsup
ps, I'm on an extremely tight budget :weep:

go get an old door from the recycling depot
a 20 liter drum
and a couple of nasty 4x2's
wont cost you more than $10
then inmagine whatt you can make
even toss a couple of old tyres under the door to take the first impact
a cheap moveable ramp is only a walk around a scrap yard for junk.

get some ply and 4x2 from the bins on building sites. If you look for buildings with tarps over them they are leaky buildings, and they throw any materials that have come in contact with moisture. A fair bit is still fine, and If you ask nicely they might even put some of the better bits aside for you just make sure you pick it up asap.
Once you have a nice stash, give us a shout and I'll let you know the best way to put it together.
Oh and some old carpet might be handy for a bit of grip! Doors tend to be slippery when they get wet.

Forgot to say, ask before you take anything. They won't care, but might if you don't ask.

if you could use steel mesh they are better for up ramps as the dry quicker, plywood can get wet and become very slippery,
i would build the base out of steel, anmd you have to build it strongs as the ramps take a bit of abuse from bikes hitting them
i would not build it cheap, its your body you are playing with, and if it breaks while you are jumping it you are in the shit,

it helps when your uncle is an aircraft engineer. i can't weld for shit.
i am also for the record way to pussy to hit this fast, :baby:
my mates sold it earlier this year also, to many injuries....

ive collected a small stash of wood and got about 2 meters of ply. went round to a mates place and picked out a few bits of 2 by 4 from their bomb fire, and started makn the frame this afternoon. its pretty sturdy so far, hopefully finish it off 2mrw and take a few pics :)
thanks for the plans, maybe when i save up enough money to buy all that steel i might give that 1 ago! :2guns:
and ill keep a look out for some carpet, never thought about using that! would it get ripped up at all?
