Example of Chch's weather yesterday and today.

Yesterday morning was beautiful. I know this as I didn't get home from town until 5.00am, sat up drinking and talking with a couple girls from work. They split a couple of hours later so I stayed up, saw the g/f off to work, and watched some TV. It was sunny, not a cloud in the sky, an awesome day. About 10:30 I rang work and got someone to pick me up, dark clouds rolling in. It turned to crap, a bit of light rain strong winds, dreadfully cold. Later in the afternoon it hailed for, oh about 2 minutes then partially cleared. Rain was off and on for most the night, with a spectacular light show followed by intense thunder.

Woke up this morning to consistant hard rain, choose to ride to work for some fun. Rained hard most of the morning with strong winds, fucken cold. Started to clear in the afternoon, sun showed itself even, roads were dry but temp still cold, thought I might go for a ride tonight. Rode home to mostly clear skys, have some dinner with the g/f and head out. Well, finish dinner to find heavy clouds have rolled back in, wind is howling and its pissing down. Park the bike up, and resign myself to no ride tonight. But whats this, the sun is out, the roads are drying, and the wind is all but gone. Thinking about gearing up to try and get out again, when I hear rain on the roof again. Look outside, sure enough its pissing down, howling like a howly thing and completely clouded over. Colder than any summer should ever be, this is a description of basically the last couple of weeks. Enough to do your friggin' head in.

Who dropped that big floater iceberg that's heading our way. That's the problem. Unbelievable isn't it. Its fine until late Friday afternoon as you leave work excited about an evening ride and the beaut weekend ahead. As you dust off the bike you hear the start of the pitter patter of rain, then...(insert you local crap weather description) :argh: . But come late Sunday the Sun comes out, just 8 minutes too late to get in a ride.
I've given up on summer, looking forward to next winter's rides

I guess I've picked the right time to have my bike in bits, but the weather is still a pain, especially since my "summer" job is painting houses... :P

I blame that movie about rapid climate change.
You know, "the day after tommorrow"
It's made it ok for the weather to do whatever it wants, instead of being proper and socially respectable

I heard some guy on the radio say how the moon was at the far end of some cycle that's put it as far from the earth as it gets.
Apparantly this is why we're having crap weather right now.
Personaly I don't care what the smart fuck reckons,I just know the weather sucks and has screwed my plans for a long ride this weekend.
I did get as far as Tuakua but the wind was pushing me all over the place so sitting at the PC drinking beer seemed a better idea.

Hey can you over dose on Speights an ham ?.Things are getting fuzzy :drinknsin an I've lost control of me legs.
Must be the ham, will drink more beer.
Cheers :apint:

I read something about it being to do with the cycle of the sun. Mmmm Sun, I remember what that used to look like.

I was sitting around earlier today, face pressed up against the window, looking at the shite weather outside, pining forlornly. When I was reminded:

"Count your blessings, Hitcher. At least you've got a bike to go out riding on, should you choose. Spare a thought for those poor hapless folk with no rides."

So I did.

How's that for Spirit of Christmas??

well I managed to ride around town this arfo to do some more xmas shopping.... much easier that trying to deal with the car and getting a park...

I did see a couple of bikes parked at Westcity (old end)carpark....and a few riders getting about town on their's.... but no way was I tempting a long ride in this weather..

So now I am parked up in front of the comp and the telly.... so hopefully there is something decent on the box.
