Boys on run for five days - not reported missing
2:22PM Tuesday April 29, 2008

Two young Rotorua boys have been found sleeping in a car wrecker's yard, five days after running away from home.

Police were called to a yard this morning after workers apprehended the 10 and 11-year-old children.

Detective Sergeant Arthur McLean said the boys had been sleeping in the wrecks and said they ran away because home life was not good.

Mr McLean said their parents did not even phone police to report the boys missing.

"We've put one of the boys into CYF care at the moment. The other boy has gone to another relation, to hopefully a more stable environment for him to be at.

"We'll be dealing with them through the Youth Aid section," he said.

This is the sort of thing that really pisses me off.

The two missing boys were only 10 & 11 years old ... and their parents didn't even bother to report them as missing to the Police.

The kids run away because "...the home life is not good" and you expect the parents to report them missing?

I think you are (or will be) a good parent that has no idea what a bad parent looks like.

Stay that way.

That totally sucks shit. Between my wife and I we know where all three kids are, or should be 24x7 (with the ocassional 1/2 hour interlude while we send them outside to play)

"Missing for days" is a concept I just can't handle. I wouldn't sleep nights if any of them went missing...

Let's just put it that way that some people should not be allowed to have kids!

Unfortunately, they are the ones having the most...

Exactly - let's all stay that way. Some parents are of such a subterranean class it's not even worth trying to fathom what they are thinking. I let the policy makers and social workers try and figure them out, then block out all thoughts of them and their disgusting approach:calm:

I raise my kids right, I earn a good salary, and I live quite a charmed life. As George Herbert said "the best revenge is living well".

Pity the poor kids though.:weep:

Um, why aren't the parents being investigated?

Um, why aren't the parents being investigated?

Because that would infringe upon their human rights and by doing so would cause major distress for the tree huggers

Parents don't quite realise exactly how much of their behaviour children notice. Being a teacher I hear things about their families all the time and it is so sad.

Some parents actually have no idea of how badly neglect can harm their children. One of the boys in my class had a huge lump on his gum, he said his mum was taking him to the dentist but the next day he came to school and came to me in hysterics because it was so swollen and full of gunk and his parents didn't take him to the dentist the night before as they didn't have enough money for gas (this is what he said). Yet I know exactly what they spend their money on.

You are right, some people should not be allowed to have children.

these kind of people unfortunately breed like flies, more's the pity, and we end up supporting them and their kids financially...

They never do an article about happy kids - send the TV crews to my house - life is one big happy time for my two - bless their fuzzy little hearts :hug:

Well yes, every child they have gives them more money on their benefit.
And if they run away, it will take awhile for them to take the extra money off them

That's how they make their money unfortunately... Hooray for bullshit socialism!

Geriatric's rant - when actions had consequences, when if you were responsible for fathering a child you would support both the mother and the child because no one else would and you would be publicly shamed if you avoided your responsibilities - while the situation was far from perfect, the children were not neglected and murdered the way they currently are.

Now, not only are there no negative consequences to fathering children recklessly, but there are positive financial incentives to do so, for which the balance of the population is taxed to pay.

/Rant off.

Poor little buggers indeed...now, they even have to look at being separated. My guess would be that if they ran away together, they'd want to stay together.

:shit: I must have been geriatric for the last 10 years and I'm only 32...Good rant sir! I'm with you all the way on that one.

A lot of them only have kids to get the "benefit". Shit I know one solo mother who has 4 kids and gets over $700 a week. I do over at work and still dont get close to that.
