Anyone follow these storms. All i can find out is the Kp Index but have no idea on how to read this and if the storm can be seen from Christchurch.

I have never seen the Southern Lights from christchurch but have seen them while I was farming down Balclutha way many years ago. I believe christchurch is too far north, but I could be mistaken.

I have seen the aurora from as far north as Whakamaru, so Christchurch isn't too far north. But remember that the further south the better chance of seeing one, and in New Zealand winter is better than summer.

I *think* I've seen it in Blenheim. All the hills were lit up from behind with green light - pretty spooky!

i am thinking that city lights cannot be good for auroras...

I am under the impression that Aurora is my name in Latin. (No, not "PrincessBandit", doh) It would be very cool to think that my name is associated with these beautiful expressions of nature. I would love to be able to see them for myself!
