For months I have been putting up with a slightly warped left front brake disc & rotor. Some clown collided with my parked VTR1000f at a bike rally. I didn't see the damage at the time but felt it on the ride home, bugger it.
Well I priced a new disc from the local shop at $350 and it (one only) was after-market and not Mr Honda. By the time new Pads were fitted the bill was getting up close to $500, hence putting the expense off.
Yes put-up and shut-up but something had to be done.
This week I looked on ebay and I could buy a new pair to fit (with a different design pattern) for $140 US. With shipping just over $200 NZ ! They are manufactured in China I guess.
Time I did something so by impulse I bought on line. The Sintered pads, two sets, I bought locally for a total of $100.
The discs should be here by the end of the week.
Is the anyone who can share a similar experience or can comment about after-market brake discs? Cheers.

I replaced the warped disc(s) on my vtr with EBC Pro-Lites about three years ago. Could even be four now, back when the NZ dollar was really week. Cost about NZD$800 for discs and pads shipped to NZ from the US.

The Pro-Lites/pad combo I bought feel like they stop better than the oem, but I couldn't do a direct comparison because of the previous warpiness I had put up with for months, just about anything is an improvement.

Looking at the service manual you shouldn't have any trouble replacing the rotors - thar be no dragons thar. New disc bolts are specified torqued to 20 Nm.

Thanks for your reply. Anything would have to be an improvement!
I will try to upload a pic to show you the wavey type design.

Have fitted up new discs & pads on bike. Will take a while to bed in but already much improved braking.
