Hi..
I've decided to buy a 50cc scooter/moped in the $2000ish range.
I've tried most of the major brands, but would like some advise from anyone who has purchased one recently...
Details:
I weigh 100kg
Commute from Newton/K road to Glendowie (~15km)
Flat mostly, but with hills at either end.
So far I have test-ridden these: Suzuki AZ50, Adly Silver Fox (aka Bug Jive), Yamaha Jog CV50, Honda Today 50, TGB 101S, and the Hyosung SB50...
So far, the suzuki and yamaha are very similar... decent build quality, but bare-bones, and dinky tyres/wheels etc..
The Honda was nice to ride, quiet, smooth start/running, but slow as (4 stroke), and very small.
The Adly was pretty decent, but take-off (up to about 15kmh was quite slow, and hill performance was average)
The TGB is so far the best performer, pulling me up to 50kmh up a hill... (restricted shop demo)...
The Hyosung was well-built, but a bit heavy and fairly slow...
I also tried a used 2007 TGB 101S with 630kms on the clock (looked new) that had been de-restricted.. that was a blast, took it up to 65 on the flat, pulled up to 55 up college hill... (75 going down before I backed off)
I have yet to try the KYMCO ZX50/BUG Vibe... but I have high hopes, and it has the best warranty with 4 yrs / unlimited kms.
Anyone have experience with the Bug Scooter or other scooter dealers in Auckland?
Parts/service availability for TGB, decent?
Importance of warranties?? Anyone actually had to use a warranty?
Any advice?
PS: I know, the advice will be: "get a motorcycle license and buy a GN250 etc"
