View Full Version : Auckland: 250cc Reverse Coro Loop Saturday - 03 MAY
TOTO
30th April 2008, 23:30
Hey Falks, me and a few other Kbers are doing the reverse Coro Loop on saturday. Most of us are going to be on 250cc bikes but there may be some biger ones :)
Everyone is wellcome to join us as long as you are ok riding on the open road 100k - 110k. Bigger bikes wellcome, not nesseserry to stay with the 250s all the time :)
We are gonna stop in coroglen tavern for lunch - nice burgers there :)
Meeting 10:00am Bp Autobahn Papkura. Leaving time is 10:30.
Ride is weather permitting so if its raining cats and dogs, we are staing at base. The forcast tho is for some very light drizzle only on a few ocasions so I'm fairly confident ride will happen.
o and we may do the 10 or so Km of twisties around the lookout 2 or three times, just for fun :) We'll see how we go in time :)
See you Bp Autobahn, 10:00 am saturday morning.
:weep:
I'l see what I can do but no promises I'm afraid.
I was hoping on you Mike.
Its only 2 - 3 tanks of gas for you isn't it

Thanks for the offer badger and cracker, you two are legends :first:
But anyway, as much as I would love to go on this ride with you guys, I think I'll have skip this one... I woke up today feeling sick (aching all over and extremely light-headed) and I don't think that's a nice condition to be riding the Coro loop in! I didn't even feel very nice driving to work today, but I had no choice :bye:

SWEET!
Fitted new chain this evening after work (ended up riding home in the pissing rain without waterproof pants, in the pitch black with a tinted visor. Frozen rain on your face, or not able to see? You choose..., but that's another story...)
It's amazing what a difference a good chain makes!!! NO driveline lash when i go from engine braking to full gas, or from accelerating chop the throttle to engine brake. She is a whole different bike! Bring on the twisties!!! :2thumbsup
Also found the adjustment i was looking for on my clutch, can adjust the angle of the lever without adjusting the friction point, perfect! Now i can reach the clutch next time i 12 O'Clock her! :killingme
Oh, and for those on Ginny's with stock chains, replace it as soon as you can!!! I knew it was bad, but was shocked at just how bad... Fed on the new chain, and the rust and kak that fell off the sprocket from the old chain (frequently cleaned too) was unbelievable... But the scariest thing? lay the old chain down on the ground, and bend it sideways (i,e, 90° to how it bends as it goes round the sprocket). it bend over 180°!!!! FOOK! tried that with the new chain... 0° bend... Now that's what a chain should be. Those chains constantly stretch and need adjustment for a reason guys, they're utter shit. Bike mechanic mate of mine couldn't believe that old one had held as long as it did with how i ride
Right, time for one more beer (Yeah Right...) and bed. Catch you fellas at the gassie in the morn! :niceone:

Just a quick heads up fellas!!
I hope a few of you read this before heading over here....
The Whangamata Beach Hop is this weekend- this means litrally HUNDREDS of hot rods and classic cars on the peninsula roads and Whangamata itself is chocka! But well worth a look.
Also the Kopu-Hikuia section is full of grotty roadworks with a hell rough surface all the way down the hill.for about 6 km
I would strongly recomend that you go through Waihi and the gorge and Paeroa - give me a rev as you pass my place on the Whanga side of Waihi:2thumbsup
I will have my old classic Fire Engine parked outside for sale
Geez too much coro rides! You guys are making a cliche out of the in/famous Coro Loop! lol

Well I did the Coro this week and nary a bike to be seen! :innocent: :devil2: And yes, it was a random spur of the moment thing ... I looked out towards the Coro from Maraetai and thought "hmmm wonder what the weather is like on the other side of the Coro..."
Have a good ride you lot! And yeah, I saw heaps of classic rods and cars on the roads out Whangamata/Waihi ... all gearing up and travelling in packs for this event!

Yea , I saw the hot rods yestrday coz i ended up doing a wet coro loop by myself to test my new waterproof gloves, which are a miracle by the way. Will definately be taking a camera and a stop at whangamata at least for 5 min to take a picture witha nice hot road is a must. :D
I know about the road words but it is very nice of you to mention it. I was planning on the whole loop trough the gorge and the whole experience. Will be looking for that fire engine in waihi - how much do you want for it ? Will give you a revv if we see it :niceone:
Also the road leading to kopu has some road works so we will be taking miranda on the way to kopu.
Thanks alot for the heads up brother, will be looking for the fire engine. May even stop for a photo with the fire engine

I'll either be on a yellow 1098,black R1 or blue R6 accompanied by plenty many Ducati's and the like.
Will be stopping in Whangamata to have a good peek at some classics
well we are doing it reverse so I guess we will meet somewhere along the way :)
Look out for us too, I will be on a black hyosung , or a black hyosung or my favourite bike of all the bunch in my garage - a black hyosung :killingme:

The roadworks weren't too bad when we cut from Tairua to Kopu a week or two back, just a couple of patches down the hill. (Unless they have they ripped up more?) Thanks for the heads up tho mate! :niceone:

Oh my goodness, what to say?!
AWESOME day, thanks to everyone who showed up, and of course Toto for sortin it out.
Had a couple of "OH FOOK!!!" moments, but handled them well.
AWESOME time at the beach hop, beatuiful cars, bikes, and babes as far as the eye could see... *Toto phones Pocketcracker* "Where are you? We're leaving!" *Pocketcracker* "Well, have fun, i'm lookin at pussy!".
Awesome run through to coroglen for a good feed (though slow as per usual), but got cow crap in my eye! thanks truck!
Great fun through the twisties up to the lookout, pegs down all round, but gettin some nasty light-to-dark transitions at times. Started getting dark and cold, oh bugger, only got tinted visor...
Flew past speed camera van that i didnt even know was there (bloody tinted visor and fading light), will be interesting to see if i get anything in the mail.
Was prettymuch pitch black by the time we hit Thames, oh bugger, cant see a thing on unlit streets. Following lines of taillights, so was doable, but not fun. a BIG thanks to Toto for hanging back and being my bouncy glow-in-the-dark light to follow with his hi-vis jacket :niceone: You know it's dark when dayglo yellow looks black :shit: the reflector strips were still good tho :)
FREEZIN cold comin home, that's the coldest i've ever been on a bike. Finally make it home, waddle in the door, look at flatmate with a wince on my face ":cold: I think my balls have icicles on them!" Nice warm shower soon fixed that, took a while to warm me right through tho.

testostrone was strutting all over the coromandel today! I was delivering stuff today and saw you guys midway from Kopu to Paeroa. just before the red mitsi van speed camera- first thing I saw were a couple of GNs with their knees out.... then as I came around a corner, a red yam FZr came at me Full mono- over the brow of the hill. Thissl be them I thought....................
O wat a day falks. we had it all - Grat weather, Nice roads, kind cagers, Wheels up to the sun, naked asses, tits, hot rod cars, pink harleys with steaming hot chicks on them, Trikes with a dog house under the drivers seat. Everything.
PocketCracker shows up LATE, AGAIN with 25 minutes. that boy needs to learn some manners or get a two litre bike instead of one. :)
Had a few OOooo Shhhhhittt moments but it was all good in the end.
PocketCracker hit a pigeon with his mirror on the way to kopu. It was funny coz we had just overtook that car at speed. he maybe was doing 155 coz I was on 137 (my limit) and this bird come flying straight trough his mirror. All I saw was the bird and when it hit the mirror there was an explosion from feathers (that I rode trough). The bird kept on flying coz it had all the feathers on its upper body and wings but all the feathers from the bottom of body and tail were gone, so manyvering was a bit hard for the poor bird. It kept flying in assimetrical circles. The cagers thet we had just overtaken were completely overwhellmed from the baddnesss of those crazy bikers. They dont give a rats ass about live creatures - I imagine hats how they saw us. What dod they expect us to do ? Go back and give Cpr to the bird ? Anyhow that bird was quite a crazy thing to see from behind.
It was great to see those bikers at kopu that put up a show for us with those high wheelies, amazing. If that really was the poker run then I would not have had a chance of staying together with them - too fast for me  ...still
Passed trough Waihi and gave Cave Weta's fire engine a good revv but there were no people around. I saw it and I was like hello baby : RRRRReeeeeeeeVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV - red line for 3 -4 seconds. Dont know if anyone heard it but we did it so Cave Weta you received your good luck revvs today. its such a nice fire engine too - I wonder if I can afford it ...
The classic cars at whangamate were just sooooo hot. Just when you taught you've seen the best one , you saw another one , 2 times hotter and so on.
PocketCracker was soo excited about all that ass he saw. He even got a spontanious blow job from one old biker chick on a harley and had nothing elce to pay with so he gave her his phone and promissed to go and pay her later and get his phone back. And he was making excuses to where his phone is but we know the truth Kyle.
badger got a cow shit in his eye. I told him not to get his head so far up that cows' ass but that boy never listens. He was with his camera going : "I want to take a good close up picture ..."
BikerBoy was scraping knees all over the loop. I noted his knee sliders before and after - good effort brother. He had a few hairy moments from what I saw from behind him but lucky it was all good for him. :)
Badger got the biggest meal in coroglemn tavern - a STEAK MEAL. I had just had a scollap burger and chips but when I saw the size of badgers steak , it made me drool again. thats what I'm getrting next time.
Just Beginning was looking at all the young lolitas the whole day and was checking all possible ass oportunities. He was so desperate to lick something that he finally went and got a frozen juice lolly. I got evidence to proove it.
Nevits was great to see you againg brother with your white babe hornet. Followed you up for a bit and can say I love your lines.
GTR BOY is toooooo fast for me. I was sticking behind him for a while there and all of a suddenn mid corner he decided he is not getting enough adrenaline so he injects more gas in the bike, takes a sharper lower line - a knee scraping line should he have had knee sliders and dissapears from my field of vision. man he can ride that trumper. I wanna his lines when I grou up :)
All in all a great trip and I'm glad that Kyle can take his phone tomorrow back from that old HD hooker.
Loved the day guys, had loads of fun and thats what it was all about. Was nice to take a slow cruise with badger at the end after all the hurrying trough the corners whole day :) I wanna get me a gn anddo stunts on it - badger has inspired me :)
Pics will come some time tomorrow guys, coz I'm exhausted after the whole day and another hour of city riding to go see the mrs.
Thank you all.
P.S. Choco you should have come to keep badger company. You naughty boy.

PocketCracker shows up LATE, AGAIN with 25 minutes. that boy needs to learn some manners or get a two litre bike instead of one. :)
Triumph Rocket III (http://www.triumphrocket.com/)? :woohoo:
Is the top speed of your bike 137? I thought it could do more than that...
O wat a day falks. we had it all - Grat weather, Nice roads, kind cagers, Wheels up to the sun, naked asses, tits, hot rod cars, pink harleys with steaming hot chicks on them, Trikes with a dog house under the drivers seat. Everything.
.....

Were some of you guys at the top of the hill overlooking Coromandel town at about 4.45? I was going to the movies in Whitianga in the Impreza with Mrs B and saw half a dozen bikes parked up.

testostrone was strutting all over the coromandel today!
Nah, that was the poker run ahead of us. We were about 5 minutes behind them. I'm guessing you were the guy waving to all the bikers? Something about dirtbikes signwritten on your vehicle? i gave you a wave as i went past (RIGHT at the back of the pack )
Saw you guys as you went thru Kopu. Who's the BIG guy on the GN?
*Puts handup* i look a whole lot bigger in my riding jacket, honest :o

Yeah, that was us. Changing visors (for those who remembered them ) and putting on warm clothes those who remembered them (double ) Think i passed you part way down the hill (going toward corro township) on the mighty GN, shot off ahead of the pack there.

3 days of slick clay, gnarly rutted hills and swollen streams.... bring it on!
I wonder if you are up to it?
Im thinking that even 1 full day will leave you needing a day off work to recover. its a real workout for those who are not 'bike fit'.
Plus- I already have bookings for a 1/2 day ride and a full day ride on that weekend so we cant do the 3 dayer.
If you guys have questions about this - hop over to the Off Road Forum and ask there- keep the MODS happy;)
