Yep, I'll be there!!
signed,
Huck Farley.

On a serious note, probably too spread out for that. (well I'm a long way from 'anywhere').

But I enjoy the Great Southern KB Connection each (both?) time it's been run.

All bikes welcome.

at the firestorm rally - where they wouldn't exactly welcome Harleys.

After attending the Boulevard rally last week it dawned that these events all have largely the same types of people in attendance.

HOG RAT JAP there are a diverse range of people with a common interest and taste. The folks and the times are 'generally' similar - regardless of the badge.

Then some of the attraction of a 'type' rally is they also don't have to listen to someone spouting 'my brand is better than yours' all weekend or being tagged 'elitist'.

Big Dave
1st May 2008, 13:09
If you hold it at a four star resort I might be keen Bruce.

ratusratus

im sure ANZA would get behind it aye

chubby
1st May 2008, 14:22
Sounds promising.

Without wanting to hijack, if we can't get enough HD and Buells would we throw it open to other interest groups? Cruisers, BEARS etc. Gotta have people and as Big Dave said common interest, generally similar.

PS we don't have to drink Lion do we? I mean.. some of us like beer.

I find it extremely hard to believe the japanese allowed a motorcycle to be called a 'firestorm'.

I'd prefer it to be somewhere to make the ride more enjoyable, Such as Taupo or Rotorua, I can live with Palmy though, Pity its just up the road.Means I'll be going home rather then making a weekend of it.

Lets not worry about the amount of people, even a handful is a good start.

Put me down as attending....Now all you need to do is decide on a date and what what the event will consist of. (how about a ride top Taupo...)

chubby
1st May 2008, 19:52
Mind you even living close doesn't mean that the rides, once there, have to be short. Thinking out loud and not knowing the area, apart from the obligatory tui tour, there is the likes of say palmy to gisborne, or to rotovagus, or ...... hey, I don't know the area, surprise me....:apint:

What's wrong with the south island then?

An idea of the time of year would be helpful.

buellbabe
2nd May 2008, 06:55
Tui factory tour? Its starting to sound very much like the HOG Rally that was held in Palmy only a few months ago LOL.

Anyways, I am keen, smaller rallies are more fun IMO. More chance to mix n mingle.

Bring it on

Good point Buellbell, combine that with Silvergrin and we can visit Silvergrins willy wanka chocholate factory, his whiskey distillery :apint: and then take a trundel up Scumdog's nether regions :Oi:. Maybe not in the same afternoon though.

Am I getting fixated on sightseeing????? I think so :spanking:

2nd May 2008, 08:23
Can I come if the Harley comes in on a trailer (YEAH I know I can hear you laughing from here!!!) as the showbike is not roadworthy yet!
My mate can come on the Buell if allowed (at least one riding in!) but I guess Betty wont be allowed, oh sad. :weep:

buellbabe
2nd May 2008, 08:42
Not roadworthy?
That reminds me...At the HOG Rally in Feb the Show entries were not eligible unless they had been ridden to the Rally and also had to be ridden on the thunder ride prior to showing.

On the way to the Rally we went through crap roadworks and it took a high pressure firehose to get the caked on mud off my baby. And then I still had to get down and dirty with a toothbrush!

:devil2:

chubby

The distillery has closed down now and I'm not sure Cadburys would welcome a bunch of scruffy bikers.
Your third option sounds about as appealing as having a root canal without anaesthetic, or is that an unfortunate analogy?

Want a harley rally go to a harley one.. nothing to do with Kiwibiker! I've seen at least two different KB rallies posted and the South Island one has been going for two years already.

Looks like it's a FIZZER Bruce, If you made it open to all on KB that would have been great, But running it as an exclusive HOG rally from this site is a bit on the snorer. I would have thought that there is only one HOG rally and that's the real one. Not the side show the Panthaz (the who) are trying to put on.
My two penneth.

I fail to see why its a FIZZER. As already stated, the official HOG Rally is just so big that the chance to do a small intimate gathering is appealing.:bleh:

Sounds cool.

I sold my 96 FXD when it was a year old, Took me a decade to get enough money together to buy another Harley, Goes without saying it was a sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet day when I sold the Kawasaki for petty cash on Trademe and went and picked up my current bike.

Ten years without a HD, I'm never going to sell this one.

I'm guessing this never got off the ground last year (for those not paying attention this thread is 2008 up until this post)?

If anyone is interested in revisiting the concept again I don't mind putting some effort into organising it. Bear in mind that it would, of course, become a Harley & Victory rally - lets call it the Kiwibiker Yankbike meet.

I' thinking mid-Nov (not a lot of notice I know), 3 day weekend (yes, yes - time off work, what a bugger) and somewhere in the mid to mid-east of the NI. Maybe Taupo, Rotorua, Hawkes bay somewhere?

Fleshing out the concept off the top of my head cos
a) I'm bored

and

b) most of the other threads around the site tonight are just irritating me...

I'd be looking for a venue with a mix of 4 walls (cos I don't tent) and tenting (for those mad bastards that do).

Nov is also the Burt Munro so maybe most folk are already committed - I dunno

Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that

buellbabe
9th September 2009, 06:43
Yes there was a fair amount of interest but for some reason it just didn't seem to happen. Like I said in this thread last year, mid-November (actually ALL of November) is out for me cos thats Buell Rally time and that would also count out a few other buellers who would otherwise be keen on a 'Yank-get-together'.

So if it does get off the ground I'm still keen but it will depend on prior committments:msn-wink:

Bear in mind that it would, of course, become a Harley & Victory rally - lets call it the Kiwibiker Yankbike meet.

...and if female riders of American bikes want to tag along we could call it the Yankslapper meet, right?

H and V Rally, sounds like a HAV!

Yes, there was some interest in this idea but the thread fizzled out for some reason.

November would be a toughie for many, with the BuMunCh in Invercargill, the Jokers hold an event in November usually and I think (might be wrong) there's the NRTC Maitai Rally in Nelson. Three events in one month makes it a busy one. Then there's the question of where to hold it?

Central NZ means Top of The South or Wellington/Wairarapa regions.

Input folks??

Yes there was a fair amount of interest but for some reason it just didn't seem to happen. Like I said in this thread last year, mid-November (actually ALL of November) is out for me cos thats Buell Rally time and that would also count out a few other buellers who would otherwise be keen on a 'Yank-get-together'.

So if it does get off the ground I'm still keen but it will depend on prior committments:msn-wink:
Fair point

On further reflection I'm thinking (now) late Feb maybe early March

You're right about Nov. See above.

You can do it in central NZ if you organise it (seriously - I'm not fussed either way and I'd still help, it would just be you leading) Otherwise I've got a few ideas for some places out on the East Coast that will mean everyone will have to ride at least SOME distance.

Should start a new thread so people don't have to wade through the bloat in this one.

Very good point - watch this forum.

East Coast? Kaikoura? Or are we talking the 'other' island. Hastings/Napier or actually East Cape way? That could be cool. Or were you thinking Wacker-tayne/BOP way?
