Hi - I have always had trouble starting my GSXR (GJ73A) from cold after letting it sit for a few days. Well now I have a problem. I pulled all the ignition wiring apart to adjust the valve clearances and have no idea which wire goes where onto the Ignition Coils to get the bugger to start. Wires are (Orange and Black/White) and (Orange and White). Orange is +12V from Ignition Switch.

I have compression (140psi), spark and I'm pouring pertol straight down the carby throat. I think its a timing problem. Wiring is correct to GSX-250 Repair Manual (same loom). My timing light is broken, so replacement comes this weekend.

Anyone got any ideas on what the Ignitor Wiring should be - I expect a GSX-250 to be wired the same - a phot would be most welcome as the Repair Manual does not specify which Ignitor feeds No.1 and 4 or No.2 and 3.

GSX250 invader - the ones we have lots of herea are totally different twin.
We do the the four cylinder you are probably thinking of but it is less common, usually known as a bandit 250.

As for the wiring I had mine apart a fair bit but can't remember too clearly...

The black box should have one wire that goes to both coils (negitive side iIthink and then two that do the switching that have their own coil.

From memory the black and white ones are the negitive shared by both coils and the orange ones have a coil each.
Dunno which orange one goes to which but one should have another connection that goes to the tacho, I THINK that should go to the coil that fires the inside cylinders but can't garrantee it.

My old bike is owned by a good mate so If I happen to be around at his place and have a chance to have a peek I will let you know for sure if you are still stuck, may be a while tho.

If you still have the original coils you may want to replace them too, they get old and the HT leads are intergrated - I got some off a ZXR400 and the even went straight onto the original brackets.

A mate has a gsxr250rr.Had starting problems when cold.Tried everything.Ended up replacing the coils and perfect starter every time.Even though you have spark with the plugs out,as soon as you put plugs under compression, the coil does not give out enough power.... REPLACE THE COILS> send an email to Ian He has the 250 im talking about and will be able to help you.... bigwoody@xnet.co.nz

Got some coils at home from an 88 GSXRR that I got for parts. Not sure if they are any good or what they are worth but I can assure you I am not interested in your left nut has payment:rolleyes:

Hi guys, problem sorted. I managed to workout the wiring - it don't matter as the coils are balanced, that is they are not earthed.
Petrol - It appears the 4-in-line Mikuni carbies dry out after more than a day idle. I guess the petrol evaporates out the overflow ports, or something. Anyway, I swith the tank to PRIME, watch the petrol flow thru the filter I have installed, and after about 30 seconds, she starts first time (even using the choke).
Good luck to you all.

Shit missed this for some reason:bash:

Coils with the intergrated HT leads $40 for the pair, and I will even include postage
