Hey

My regulator has given up on me and I need to get one ASAP tomorrow morning. Pretty much I'm going to see what a couple of bike dealers quote me, does anyone have any recommendations?

I recommend getting an aftermarket one fitted as they are bigger and better design than the OEM Honda. Problem is you gonna have to rewire it and remount it (preferable a different location). Andrew might be able to help you with that.

That is from Dosboy of the CBR250 forum in Aussie... if anyone wants a copy of the maintenance guide for all CBR250's then here it is....very helpful if you wanna do engine work the settings are all listed here.

Hmmm yeah Stephen my regulated voltage was sitting at 12V on a fully charged battery and then dropped to 11.9V in a couple of minutes ay! I'm ringing dealers and wreckers now cause I need one ASAP.

Hopefully I can get the old plug out because last time we had trouble and couldn't!

FINALLY got the regulator off, it had completely fried and melted the plug inside it so it was welding together! OK, I have got a few quotes for a couple of regulators DAMN they are pricey! But now also I have to pretty much get a new plug for the wires to go into the regulator as my one is all melted. The bike shops seem a bit unsure of this, any ideas??

If you are buying a new rectifier it would most likely come with the adapter plugs and pins (that is if it is the same shape and design as the oem honda rectifier). So all you need to do is get rid of the fried cables perhaps cut and solder new connections to fit the new rectifier.

What I was telling you yesterday was if the shops were selling you a rectifier that was totally a different design and shape than the oem honda's then you need to remount and figure out the wiring.

One of my CBR 900's had a rectifier replaced by Ricky from Mt Eden then with a rectifier that I think was for a Yamaha R1. He had to put longer cables and redrill two new holes as the rectifier was double the size than the original Honda rectifier. Cost $250 all together.... did not experience any problem for 6months then I sold the bike...
