There was a group called "Wizard", don't think it was kiwi, though. The lead singer was/is Roy Wood. One of their singles was "See my baby jive". Hope that helps you win a dozen of piss in a bet etc ;)

Yep, first (and only!) song by Wizard I thought of.

Wikipedia states: born Roy Wood, 8 November 1946, Kitts Green, Birmingham, West Midlands, England.
I can remember him being touted as a Kiwi when he was in Move. Went on to form The Electric Light Orchestra ELO and then Wizzad. Solo career followed.
Every Xmas who can escape hearing Wizzard's " I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day"
I like this quote:"Roy Wood's classic material marks him as one of the greatest melody writers of the twentieth century, second only to Lennon & McCartney, and one of the most gifted multi-instrumentalists in existence. Most of his solo albums are solo in the truest sense of the word - recorded entirely by himself, where he plays all the guitars, bass, drums, pianos, banjos, trombones, flutes, accordians, violins - even the bagpipes! The sheer musical capacity of the man is jaw-dropping". "Roy Wood has got to be the most underrated rock musician of all time -
Interesting trivia:
The Move's song 'Flowers in the Rain' was the first song broadcast by BBC Radio 1.
I like this verse:
I heard the flowers in the trees
Make conversation with the trees
Relieved to leave reality behind me
With my commitments in a mess
My sleep is not a way of rest
In a world of fantasy you'll find me.

I also remember a song by them called "Forever".
You tube is great, isn't it? I've found videos of all sorts of music I haven't heard for years
They did a popular song called Angel Fingers which is on a recently released 70s album somewhere.

I've never tired of hearing Angel Fingers, See my Baby.. and Wizzard's Xmas song over the decades but I've never seen what he looks like until now!
Bet he would have been very entertaining to see live though.

'See my baby jive' was on 20 Solid Gold Hits Vol 5 and 'Angel Fingers' was on 20 Solid Gold Hits Vol 6.
Showing my age now especially if I have the actual records. LOL.
Two of the great classic songs of the 70s. Timeless songs IMO.

I did see The Wizards in Finland at a 3 day concert in approx 73 - 75? Roy walked out on the stage with raibow coloured hear, played a song and a bit, threw his guitar away and walked out. The rest of the band tried for a few songs but then gave up. Luckily there was many other class band at that concerst. Apperently he was not happy with the sound quality... Never really liked him after that.
Jeff Lynne of ELO and Roy could not agree. So he left the band and ELO became very successful. But more mainstream.
It seams that Roy was a tricky one to get along with. Perhaps why he made so many solo albums...
