Greetings to everyone.
Even though I'm a complete newbie (new to forums as well as biking), the vibe coming throught the contributions to this site is amazing, and encouraged me to jump in!

Next weekend I collect a '97 KDX 200, and will try dirt biking for the first time since I was put-putting around on a 50cc thing when I was about 10! Ahhh the seventies!

Since those days it's been my father (on BMW K100's and later on R-something-or-others) and my younger brother (on a GSX550 at one stage) who were the motorbiking nuts.

Now my brother has a Valiant with the cleanest retro mags I've ever seen, and it's my Dad who thinks I'm the one who's nuts.

But, in life, sometimes you just have to jump. Time can easily slide by. The sun races around to catch up with you again. Sometimes there are times when you can't sit back and wonder "Should I..."

I'll head over to the Off Road forum to intro myself there, and search some of the threads, but it feels 'impolite' to dive straight in without introducing myself properly first via this forum.

So soon I'll have my first bike, and I promise to enjoy it as much as possible, have as many laughs as I can and tumble as gracefully as I can while I learn to ride the thing on the dirt.

Thanks again - people's opinions and frank discussion on this site have already helped me out so much.

Welcome!!:2thumbsup

I'm another newcomer, the reception was warm, supportive and I still feel loved (5 months old now). Relate to your post ~

Best advice I've had along the way is to go at your own pace, and trust your bike. Sounds like you are learning to ride in the right place - may all your falls be graceful .

... and, look forward to seeing you out on the open road sometime.

I'm following the same philosphy I employed with my best friend when we started Targa Rally racing - just enter at your own level, drive your own pace, enjoy it and finish without too much damage.

Our Targa car is on Trade Me now - hence the search for something new to do... (see Competition Cars for BMW 325 with V stickers on the side) Thanks for your comments.
