Looking for something entirely unrelated in Wellington and found this area of what looks like trails, but not MX, cause there's no start gate . Is this a riding area?

Hey i go there often its kinda like loose / soft mud, its ok. At the bottom its suitable for kids, there's a couple of hill climbs at the bottom to pratice.

There's sorta a cheap mx track at the top (Or 2 actually) what are ok, but suck when its wet because heaps of puddles are formed!

Ive been there when the cops have came down and had a look, gave me a wave etc didn't care. Just wear the right gear. Never really had a problem. I guess you could call it a riding area.

Also there's a little pit bike track in wainumata for the kids.

I also lived in Titahi Bay (long time ago). Looks like it's over the motorway from Porirua town centre (anyone remember Bill Wetzel M/C's?) near the Police college

Its known as aretia block(Right next to the school i think), good little place to pratice a couple of hill climbs what are mediumly hard.

Its been there for years however there's a subdivsion been made right next to it so probabaly wont be there long. Used to have a gate and key etc but its fully open nowadays.

Warning there's lots of puddles of water atm just went there the other day.

Take the turn off to take you past Porirua college and gear homestead. Turn left and go up hill, the gate is near the top on the right.

We used to ride mostly in the Horrokiwi's (back of Newlands) you could go right through and down to the Quarry on the Hutt motorway. All houses now though! I had a Kawasaki F11 250 air cooled and my mate had a new Honda SL125. The young fellas won't even know those bikes LOL!

why would you waste your time going to Porirua when you have 100's of acres of the Maungakotukutuku Valley to ride in 10 minutes away from Paraparaumu?

Mangatooks = Sharp rocks = OUCH!

Just nice to change it up a little from time to time.

I have more trouble with hard trees than sharp rocks (although my tires would most probably disagree)

If you want a change try Oldins Rd at the top of the Akatarawas Rd above Reikeorangi (spelling is probably all wrong) - thats a real blast

Just like to try new places, rode the Mungatooks heaps in the the 70s. Used to be lots of places to ride around Pram back then, QE2 park, Otaihanga sand track, Soldiers Rd, and the track on Ratanui Rd...................
