Do xtra have adsl2+?

Whats the fastest plan you can get on xtra, i tried there website, but they don't say shit on there! some wank about "speed will vary" which i understand, but whats the expected average?

I want to upgrade, unfortunately im stuck with xtra gay balls.

I'd use about 10gb month.

With adsl2+ dose that take over the line its on? i.e., can't use the phone on it etc.

can't get any info off xtra's website.

don't bother with the "go elseswhere" i don't give a shit, if i could choose i'd be out of xtra in a flash, but i cant.

Whether you have ADSL2+ or not depends on which exchange you're at. Nothing changes between it an ADSL except that it's faster. I wish they'd gone for ADSL2 rather than 2+ though :( I'd prefer 3.5Mb/s upload.

it dosnt matter what you get its all the same every provider gets the same , because its telecom phone line they use
so just use what you have cause it wont change
telecom milk it no matter what .

the only option you get is a bussiness plan but that costs
the adsl2 is what you will get and it has to be installed to the phone exchange by telecom , when its in the other providers have access to it as well .
if your near a major city and near an exchange , think you ll find you r already on it .
says a lot about telecom .
if you want to know why the speed is slow , because you used to get 50 connections to 1 port
now its like 300 to 1 port
i do know this for a fact

I'd stab a kitten if required to have an upload that fast

For what it's worth as far as ADSL is concerned the best comes from Telstra. If your a gamer you will want to request to have interleaving off which lowers the ping substantially & any usage over your 10GB plan incurs a $11.95 fee for another 10GB block.

That's obviously if you are unable to get cable or ADSL2+ etc

dont believe me , go ask a pc minded person

DSL is DSL in NZ...as in it matters not who you go with. If speed matters and you can get cable then that's the way to go. Why do you need such fast speeds anyway....most of the limitations are caused by $hit connections between this island and the rest of the world.

An important factor in your choice of provider is who'll give you the cheapest phone calls.

Think of your broadband connection like a water pipe. Now think of ping time as the distance from your tap to the resovuar...the longer the pipe, the more time it takes for the water to travel from the resovuar to your tap (the more "hops it makes" the larger the latency or "ping".

Think of your speed as the size of the pipe. If you have a fat pipe, more water can travel at any given time.

In short, a "fat pipe" or fast connection won't make your games run quicker/smoother. For many gamers, something like a cheapo Kiwi Online 10Gb/256Mbps connection is ideal as opposed to a 3GB/Unlimited speed.

Well bugger me with a fishfork. At lunchtime the network is really slow. I had better try this again in the early morning!

Pings not on our connection, just the route to that server in Auckland.
I get a better ping to Sydney lol.
