I have bought a suit. No, I'm not getting married. No, I'm not getting buried. I didn't have one. I found one on sale (less than half price - legally) Now I need it altered to fit.

Can anyone suggest a tailor in Wellington (or someone who can do quality suit alterations) without charging an arm and a leg? The suit may have been less than half price but it was still pricey, now I have only pennies in the clothing budget... :weep:

Incidentally what do alterations cost?

Most shops you buy suits from usually can arrange alterations. However, there is now a place out in the middle of Queensgate Mall Lower Hutt called LookSmart Alterations that does these things on the spot, otherwise look up tailors on Yellow pages. Depends how much alteration you need as to cost but about 20 bucks a piece would be a good price.

See this http://yellow.co.nz/companies/Clothing-Alterations&Repairs/LookSmart-Alterations/101777546_521.html

Add an inch to your husband's what?

I'd like to go to someone who knows what they're doing and not a blind pick from the yellow pages, hence the request for a recomendation...

I am, Sir, a motorcyclist of the highest calibre and breeding. I therefore require that which is of equivalent quality to clothe myself therein.

Well I can tell you who NOT to go to. Harach in Grand Arcade on Willis St. I had some alterations done by them a few years ago and the buttons fell off within a few days. Really poor job.
Not long after that Target TV program I think, or consumer did a test of tailors round Wellington. They charged the most and did an absolutely terrible job. Rated the worst in the group.
Can't remember who was best, it was a while ago.
There is a place that does alterations in the BNZ centre, downstairs where the food court is. But I don't know anyone who has been there so can't recommend them.

Shurely yer joking! Just remember that pants go on the inside and not on the outside or on yer head! The bit with the big hole is where your head goes through and if you got the buttons on the back, the men in the white suits have finally caught up with you with their van!

Shirley is most certainly a legend, and one might fine looking woman too!

The reason I asked about the tie is I found one in the back of our car last weekend, as you are the only other person to have used it recently I wondered if it was yours, or someone that you transported around in the car even?

Not to worry if you dont know who it belongs to, it is lovely...Maha might be persuaded to wear it, though I am not sure how...LOL

Oh, you just have to turn it in to a flag then, and ride off to Welly to deliver it...its KB custom, don't you know..

Suit is very nice - he scrubs up well really - caused quite a stir at my work Being so tall amongst all the short-arses here he stood out like dogs balls. Thank God I wasn't asked what I was doing - they would really have got a taste of my crude sense of humour.

Amazing how amusing a fitting can be in a work place meeting room. I had to tell Colapop that my heavy breathing was not due to his presence but that I have asthma - cos it was not a good look or sound me on my knees PINNING trouser hems and wheezing away.
