With their piss poor attitude to motorcycles I won't be rushing out to buy shares in them. Roll on Hampton Downs.

hmmm. well i dont feel for them, they run a piss poor outfit, and Mr grumpy takes the cake, why the hell they employ him is beyond me!
as far as im concerned, their management or running of the track (and talking purely from my experience) they havent a clue..

(still a cool track though)

TMP director David Steele said the hosting of the A1GP in Taupo was unrelated to any possible sale of the track.

"As far as we are concerned the race *cough* is still all go *cough* next January."

Roll on Hampton Downs.
How much will Hampton Downs be to hire in comparison?? Will they be getting nervous now that Taupo is in debt in less than 2 years?? Even though they had the A1GP.

Huh?

I don't know what any of you are talking about. I haven't come across (or even heard about) a bad attitude towards motorcycles at taupo. The trackdays I've been to there have all be pretty well run (I must've been to 7 or more). Admittedly I only rode on the old track once, but I enjoy the new full track heaps. My lines are all over the place, it's not a one-line-wonder for me. :p

Taupo is heaps better than pukekohe, and a whole lot closer than manfield for me in Auckland.

talking out my arse here cause I really dont know the ins and outs of it but find myself wondering if the bottom line would be better if they reduced track hirage fees and held more open days. Like every 2nd weekend or something. Surely there would be enough people willing to go out every other week if it was $50 or something.

Well I really like the Track at Taupo, been on them all so far and it takes the cake, great trackdays and great times have and will be had there.
manfield ? nah, Pukekohe? Nah . Taupo is the only track worth racing around on in the N.I, but yes Bring on Hampton downs, then we will have two good ones out of the three in waikato to choose from.

That's the problem.
Too far from the population centre to attract casual interest.

Tis their own bloody fault, as has been said they have piss poor management, don't return calls or answer letters or emails. And Grumpy - what an asset NOT. The moment I saw him get out of HIS BIG TRUCK I thought oh shit here's trouble cos he was so god-damned fkn short, ducks disease big time and he literally had to step back and look up at me. Me tall, blonde and female just what those "short man with the attitude to match" love. He kept yapping at my heels so I had to bend down and say "Now calm down, just calm down" Very diplomatic of me really when what he deserved was a good right hook and told to shut the fk up. Jesus I would only have to have lifted my leg 2 inches off the ground to knee him in the groin. No-one I have spoken with has had a kind word to say about him.

I haven't come across (or even heard about) a bad attitude towards motorcycles at taupo.

That's because you've only dealt with the trackday organisers themselves, not with racetrack management.

Of course the actual trackday companies are going to be focused on giving you a good riding experience. They have no direct affiliation with Taupo Motorsport Park; they just pay the fee and hire it for the day, thereby dealing with all the crap for you.

Golly...
Anyway, the track is effectively booked the whole time, so the problem is not PR, or short people - Its that it costs a shitload of money to build a track with modern facilities. Whats HD costing? twice Taupo? Start saving for track days.
The more tracks that stay in business the better I reckon. Particularly those that happen to be 2kms from my doorstep.

HD management have already published their track hire fees; they're cheaper than Taupo.

Doesnt look good for Taupo when HD starts then - if they cant make it now without a major competitior in the area...

I'm certainly not keen on going to see the A1GP there again. Sure me and my mates got the cheap seat tickets, but we at least expected to get seats. Instead we had to sit on a dusty embankment and the wind was kicking all that dust up into everyone's eyes. Between races we'd have our heads tucked into our shirts since it was so bad. The dust also stuck to your sunblock so when you tried to reapply more it was like sandpaper. I ended up giving up and getting sunburnt.

He was an asset, all the dealings motoTT had with him were very good.

What has being short got to do with anything? How rude of you. Would you make such nasty comments about an over weight man (or woman), or a very tall person?

Bloody Mad Woman (BMW)
7th May 2008, 16:22
Yes I do. As a male you probably don't know or recognise the short man syndrome attitude. So I speak the truth and don't apologise for it. When I see a very tall man my friend is 6'10 - I commented on his height too. Why do you have a problem with that I don't oops you are probably short. I do have diplomacy around fat people tho. Unlike my ex who actually described one of his female friends as so fkg humungous and ugly - I'm not that rude. LOL

Nonsense. I've met quite a few guys with short-man syndrome, and Grumpy isn't one of them. If he wasn't nice to you, it would have been a straightforward response to *your* attitude....

oops you are probably short
Heh! You obviously haven't met me in person, have you?

LOL!!! My dear woman, you do realise that I've seen photographs of you, don't you? Have you stood on any bathroom scales lately? No wonder you're sensitive about the particular topic of fat people.

I suggest you revise your attitude toward others. (And maybe take a few runs around the block.) Enough said.

No Idea what the Taupo hire rates are but Hampton Downs rates are advertised here (http://www.hamptondowns.com/Track-Bookings.wse). They look fairly reasonable to me, but really I havent got a clue.

Gee I must be really special if you are searching out photos of me and they even have my name on them Yeah Right, you would have to ask around who it is in the photo, so why all the interest??

The only photo I'm aware of on KB is my avatar one. So where are you getting them from??

I strongly suggest you engage brain before opening mouth or writing - cos you have done what you accuse me of. Gee what a surprise NOT. How like a male to resort to attack and name calling. As my first husband said NZ men are so immature and thick, not able to handle strong, independent honest women who have opinions of their own and have no fear expressing them - it threatens their huge ego. And that is from a MALE. Frankly, I will only ever share on my experiences of life - fact, truth, if you take issue to it - like you have, then tell someone who cares cos I don't. Get a life.
At least my personality isn't my contraception. Get over yourself babe.

Anyway, back to the original topic...

Is there any way for Taupo to get itself out of the red than to just, well, keep on keeping on? It's not like it'd make more money if it was sold to developers and turned into a housing estate (god forbid). All the capital outlay has been done, now it's time to let it earn - I guess.

Personally, I've dealt with Jacki and Gav when I organised and ran a track day for my car club. They were helpful, easy to deal with and good communicators.
They were also reasonable; something not apparent in BMW's posts as she performs character assassinations of people she's never met
