View Full Version : Anyone used an on-shipper from the US?

Alright, here's the thing:

Trademe is alright for some stuff, and so is buying locally. But NZ is small - choice is limited and prices are high.

In contrast, the US is big - choice is virtually unlimited and prices are low. So I browse Ebay quite a bit.

However, there are a lot of sellers on Ebay who specify that they won't ship outside the US (for whatever reason).

So, has anyone used any of the on-shipping companies based in the US? I'm thinking of buyusa.co.nz, for example.

Experiences? Good/bad? Other companies you'd recommend?

I've often just sent a query to them regarding shipping to our side of the world and only been turned down once! Amazing what they will do when you reply in a good, polite and friendly way!

Yeah I found the same for some ebay sellers, if you ask they will post it to you. It's probably a case of taking the easiest option when listing for most people. I have also had a couple of "didn't you read the auction" and "that's too much effort" responses as well however.

Of course it doesn't make searching for stuff easy, which is why I tend to only buy from world wide shippers.

I have looked into a few re-shippers (never had to use one yet due to family in the states, but they've just moved so I might have to keep an eye on this thread). The major issue I found is that most of them are subscription services, which makes it rather expensive when you really only want one thing and are unlikely to use them again. There was one in Canada (I think), which was basically a one women operation that was getting good feedback at the time. I don't have the details any more, but I imagine a search will find it easy enough. She also had a fixed fee, rather than a percentage of goods (usually plus minimum costs) like some charge.
