ever since my mate told me that if your bike sits on hard ground,eg concrete, wooden floors,,, your tyres can develop flat spots,,,so now it lives on carpet

A mate of mine is away for months at a time so has his bike up on stands front and rear, keeps tyre shape and more stable.

i think its quite approriate to use carpet , only cause im not allowed it inside the house ,
then id just need a single bed and park the bike next to it

I had a mate who had one of those terribly noisy (but fun on one wheel!) nifty fifties, it sat on concrete in a back shed for 3 years while he was on his OE and it had some horrendous flat spots on the tires!

Hence the Zong is on stands when off the road for more than a couple of days, or resting on underlay and arti-grass if its just overnight!!! (With a blankie to keep it snug...)

I don't think I would ever have the bikes still enough for long enough to need carpet to prevent flat spots. I think if that happened it would be time to give bikes away.

I'm overseas at the moment for a while. My bike is nicely tucked up in my bedroom at home, on the carpet.

my whole garage is done covered with marine carpet, so its fine for getting wet and stains come off pretty easy.

My garage floor is slippery concrete that worries me every time i reverse the bike out incase my feet slide out from under me.i tried a piece of marine carpet but that just moves around also.

Of course its on carpet. Much better for my knees when I'm praying to the bike.

It's also rumoured to be better for the bike because it absorbs some of the moisture which would otherwise condense on the cold metal, not sure about that but it saves my knees and the bike deserves it eh. :thud:

Is it wrong to leave the radio on so she doesn't get lonely?

my mate told me that if your bike sits on hard ground,eg concrete, wooden floors,,, your tyres can develop flat spots,,,

I just pump the tyres up occasionally, that seems to work too.

Sometimes I use an old sheet though as there is a spider lives above my bike somewhere and dumps crap on it. The sheer volume of his doings indicates that the spider may not be small so I haven't made any attempts to meet it in person.

Yes, I have a square of old carpet on the floor. It makes kneeling down for maintainence less painful on the knees. And cleaner. I have a large supply of carpet so when it gets dirty I just throw it away.

trust me - you are just making a rod for your own back ..... :weep:
from 'leaving the radio on' it works thru 'bike's choice' to each bike having to have their own ipod .............. and THAT way lies MADNESS!!

She has her own coat and stereo system now. She is getting on the turps on Friday, just to make sure its all clean and tidy down under as you can appreciate. She wants for very little in life.... 'big sighing blubby puppy looking smilie'

Yep carpeted garage for 3/4. The concrete part is used for wet bikes to drip-dry and for oil changes and maintainence etc. The old vaccuum out there to keep it all tidy. Radio ...but no heater. Old duvets to cover bikes not being used. Sheer luxury to be out in the garage. The carpet helps keep the garage warm too on them cold winter evenings....

We compromised - carpet tiles only to the bike park area!

But the Allis Chalmers is getting jealous - I've told her she has to stop leaking, afore she gets comfy wheels............

It's his *feet* slipping he's worried about. Obvious solution. Put "No more nails' on your boot soles. Stay still till it dries, bingo, no more slipping feet. Sorted.
