Hi guys and gals!
Thinking of buying a KTM SX400 2002. Does anyone have anything to say about this model?
The bike looks tidy and had regular services done. Just looking for a bike to go on trail rides and woodhill.
Also Honda CRF450R 2008 has caught my eye. Anyone can comment on this model?
Just came across these bikes on trademe and they are in my price range.
Cheers!

Just came accross a KTM 525 SX 2005 thats within my price range!
KTMBoy, will be nice to hear from you!!!!
It only has 36hrs on KTM hr meter, but looks much older. There is rust on foot rests, exhaust, and bolts n nuts are rusted.... Could this be because of riding on beach and salt water eating through it???
How difficult would it be to change the original KTM hr meter and reduce the hours. The question I got with this bike, is that it looks older that the seller shows.... it could be the salt n lack of cleaning up after fun day out, or someone trying to sell me an exploited KTM!!!
any response will be valuable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously doubt that a 2002 bike has only done 36hours. You need to have a look at the bike before buying in my opinion. As far as I know the bikes do not come with and hour meter stock from that year. An hour meter can be fitted at anytime during its life.
Realise that this is a MX model and may not suit what you want from a bike.

what do you want from your bike?
525 sx with 36 hours. doubt it. if that's the case it should almost look like new.
i take it that you are looking at a 525 because you can ride really well??? they are one hell of a beast. what is your price range? why do you want such a big motor? have you ridden a 450 motox bike before? or a 250f?

turns out the KTM 525 has done over 100hrs. the hr meter was installed mid this summer. the bike is out the question now...
the chinese crappa is running strong and was lots of fun! (for the price!) my brother is on it now, he is only 65kg and he is loving it! maybe consider a new bike for him next summer.
the price range I was thinking 5-7k for 2nd hand one or around 8.5k-9k max for a new bike. went to RedBarons and suzuki today to check their bikes, and got interested in the Yamaha YZF 450.
So the two bike I will consider now is Honda CRF450 and a Yamaha YZF 450. Anyone selling theirs?
