Anyone have one of these loafing around. A freinds son is having trouble with his CB250RS when warm. I suspect ignition. I've supplied a coil and CDI unit but no luck. Next point of call is the pickup unit. Any assistance is welcome. The lad lives in Otaki and works in Paraparaumu and needs his cibby to commute to work.

What year? And what would I be looking for?

I know nothing about bikes except mine broken :crybaby:

Tis an 81 cb250rs. Can't afford to repair it (forks were kinked due to a IDSY - I didn't see you - cager), but everything else seems to be in good nick.

If you can give me more info on what to pull off, or a gracious chch KBer can come around (with tools, have none), then no worries having what parts are needed.

Thanks for the offer GL. Any other damage? Would you consider disposing of the whole thing as a "parts bike"?

it maybe a long shot... but i had one years ago, i traded it to boyle kawasaki out by the basin reserve. i gave him a shite load of parts and if my memory serves me right, i gave him a full ignition setup. coils, ht leads the lot.
hopefull john is still in buisness, he was a really nice guy to deal with. he could never do enough for you.

Cheers :headbang:

All other damage was either there already (torn seat, crack indicator) or is superficial, crack wing mirror. Yeah it is a parts bike, although I put the rego on hold in case I was able to get the forks straightened. There's a thread I posted with pictures when I got it, will have a hunt and see if I can find a link for you.

GL the pick unit is under the RH crankcase cover, just behind the oil level dip stick. it is secured by two phillips head screws. You'll see the wires going into it from the centre of the cover. You'll need to drain the engine oil first and it's a good idea to have some sort of tray rags underneath.
