Good thinking.

Oh and on another note, if anyone does have a good idea, PM the location rather than put it on a public forum!

I know you're an Aucklander and don't know much below the Bombays, so here's a tip, Taupo is quite a drive from Wellington.

Churton Park at the fringes of the subdivisons...

I spent most of my teens driving round there like a maniac and never once ran into a cop. They just don't seem to go there.

Nice smooth roads.

i did 210kph around that "off road hiway" stretch before going onto the track.
your a n00b aint ya, when i did wheelstands on the race track over the start finish line i was black flagged, the race track aint the place for stunting, a wide flat road or carpark is ideal.

It's a pity you missed out on the few sessions at GM carpark before they ripped up that most sacred of sealed flat surfaces.:(sniff sniff:crybaby:

If we could get some more people together and approach it in a sensible manner we could inquire with the HCC about using some of the roads around Seaview. There's lots of room, away from residential areas, they're non essential and very quiet in the weekend, perfect really. They already do carsprints there fairly regularly as well as the famous drags.

The trick is to go about it properly in terms of getting the right permissions etc, which means time and effort needs to be invested.

I'd be keen for one if there was a reasonable level of subscription from the punters. It does need to be taken to this level as I don't think there's going to be a decline in the numbers of people interested in stunts, same goes for the number of dipshits around to take a negative view of going about it illegally.

Good idea. I'm willing to help if we can get a few others into the idea.

Hopefully I can convince Dad to let me use his trials bike. Been wanting some flat, even grip surface to try mimic Christian Pheiffer's moves.

Seaviews not a bad idea. I've been down Port road a few times practising my skills. There's no bugger there in the day time on the weekends apart from the occasional semi.

Still it's a public road so you take your chances with the plod.

I taught myself to wheelie at the carpark opposite the Trentham golf course.
Lots of room there. Lot's of my mates practiced wheelies there too.
Located across the road and on the eastern boundary of the Trentham army camp. Check it out. Some of the basic handling courses are held in there.

I would of course not be one of those mate's wanting a place to pratice wheelies. Of course not.

Port road's probabaly a bit too wide open / dodgy but round that area aint too bad.

There's also that place i told you about but thats in the middle of no where! (i doubt they have phone's out there so no cops hehe!).

It's called property development.

Aunty H land rules probably means it cost a shitload more money to do that than it should!

Hi guys,

Sorry to re-open an old thread. I've been struggling with the same question for some time now and couldn't find anything yet.

I am looking for a place to practice my stunting techniques and given the fact that I am a total beginner when It comes to stunting I know I WILL be falling a lot so it needs to be off the road. Also, I don't want to worry about the plod instead of concentrating on what I'm doing. Any large car park would do, given the owners won't complain and call the cops.

If any of you guys know good spots around Welly but don't want to post them, please pm me.

Really classic mate. You have such an elegant writing style, you should write a book.

And i guess being part of the mormon few crowd, you're one already :Pokey:, or you're afraid of competition.... :scooter:

Now talking seriously , let's not turn this thread into a "my dick is bigger than yours and everybody not doing what I do is gay" kinda' thread. If you have any useful information pertaining the subject, please chip in; if you just want to vent your opinions on stunting, you have a whole forum section to to that: it's called "rant and rave".

Come with us to the Slipway in Karori. Between bouts of tyre shredding in the Supra and the dirty DX Ben has been letting me go out and try to kill myself on the 675.

If you haven't seen it yet, checkout 'riotsquadfilms' on youtube for our latest movie from the track.

And yes, that is the gay music thats been agreed on for the Slipway theme whne the logo appears at the start. No laughing...

I didn't know there was a slipway in Karori. Is this in the private grounds just after the wind turbine at the top of Brooklyn?

When do you guys meet? I would even come along just to see you drift.

Will drop you a note on here the next time we rock down. Glenn our mad genius vidoegrapher wants to get some footage of the bike for some arty slow motion shots so it'll be soon, plus the Supra needs testing before the first round of D1NZ in Sept.

Ben is the the Slipway designer and owner, his dad is the land owner. There are MTB courses, our SuperX/FMX track, trail ride loops and the Slipway Drift track there. Its a good place to play Stunt riding aprat from the currenlt lack of a Genie and Compressor for tyre changes. We carry spare tyre/rim combps for the cars - like up to 20 18in 265's for the Supra, but who has spare bike rims??? And I prefer to ride it home than squeeze it on the back of the Drift trailer like last time...
