These are photo's taken in the 1980's in Malaysia, while I was based in Singapore with the kiwi army. I was aged 21 at the time.

Pic one is me (the white guy with the cool shades) at the shell station, downtown Kuala Lumpur. The common size bikes were 50cc stepthru's,with 90cc ones popular. 125's or up were the domain of the wealthy.
Road tax (same as our registration) went on engine CAPACITY. The bigger the engine...the MORE it cost. My 750 cost about $650 a year to road tax.

Pic two is me on the right with my Honda 1976 750 F1. Normal riding attire in the tropics, and FULL face helmets were ILLEGAL. The bike in the centre is a Honda 1977 750 F2. the one on the left is a Honda 750 K2 (I think, not sure of year)

Pic three is my new(er) bike, me cleaning it, a 1979 GS1000E. Horsepower and handling personified in the LATE 70's

Good on you for digging out some old pics to share. I started a similar thread once upon a time..here it is.
Seeing that Thailand flag t-shirt brought back memories of my trips through S E Asia. Every second Thai wore one of those t-shirts.

I had the 76 Honda 750/4 as well. Sorry but I found it to be a dull machine. Although those 1970s' Honda fours could put out an awesome sound with after market pipes.

How about some others post their old bike pics here?

Sick is right bro, the brakes look positively lacking when thinking of ones health.

Thanks for sharing dude. These pics reminded me of ones of my dad when he was over in Singas at a similar age in the 70s - then we were transferred there in 86 an stayed until 1990.

Were you based in Dieppe?

I spent 80/81 with SUS, at Tengah and 81/82 at the Naval Base opposite the Fernleaf.

Didn't ride any bikes over there but!
