No its not another "What tyre should I buy thread!"

In the 9yrs that I've been biking, I've always owned 2nd hand bikes, and as is often the case I've always replaced front and rear treads seperately as required.

WELL the time finally came round when both were sufficently stuffed to replace front and rear at the same time. Wow what a difference!!! And to top it off I had the Steering Head bearings replaced to (49,000kms).

My bike is transformed, I've only done 30km on the new Conti Road Attacks, first time I've run these as well, and I'll say so far I'm a happy chap.

First impression of the tyre (I'm still scrubbing them in and the roads were wet this morning) is that they hold a line well, seem to gently roll in for the first 10-15deg then drop in nicely after that.

I had one small moment on them - but in fairness it was a tight down hill left hander, in the wet, before you could call the tyres scrubbed. I don't think I'll hold that against them especially seeing as they are the Road Attacks not the Sport Attacks.

All in all I'm really looking forward the giving them a good thrashing on the Queens B'day Turangi ride.

I also run Conti's, love then, for me ahey are a much better tyre, slightly grippier and last a bit less than HD Dunlops.

Any tricks to wearin in a new front tyre on a GSXR 1000, K1, the other tyre was pretty rooted, so I know this one should feel different, but it seems real slippery, even tryin to warm it up.

The trick is to ensure it is well scrubbed and gently increase lean angle as the k's go by, before getting jiggy with it. But what sort is it?

Just ride 10 - 15 kms on a gravel road. It scrubs the tyres in nicely right to the edge with no risk of losing it due that slippery new tyre surface.

Try the Whare Flat road, go up Three mile hill and turn right just before the top.

Just take it easy for the first kilometre, then sort of weave a bit. Then slowly get into the corners, then go faster. You should be alright. The other option is to give them a scrub up with some scotch brite!

I still do wipe as much of the slime off either with meths and or water blast the tread. I very nearly had an off when I forgot that I had put a new front tyre once.
