What's this broken Bandit 250 worth?

My friend recently bought a bandit 250 which he had for a week before it made a loud banging sound.

I'm quoting him here but apparently the conrod is broken and sticking out. It's also currently running on three pistons, so from what I hear from him it's pretty knackered. It does still go, but obviously not that well!

It's a 95 - My friend wants to know what its worth, as its just sitting in his garage doing nothing at present. I thought someone on here may be able to do something with it.

It's currently got 28000 on the clock. Will have some photos up tomorrow, dude it out in Eastbourne if anyone is interested.

The conrod's sticking out of what? The side of the block? Unless you know what you're doing you're booking yourself a lot of nights in the gargre here.

At the very least, subtract the cost of a motor and $1000 from the cost of a bike with the same Kms in the same condition...

Yeah, I thought as much guys, sorry to be vague. Apparently it's sticking out the side of the block, but I'll get some pics up so at least people can see what it looks like.

The dude paid 4k for it about a month back, so go figure. I'm about as mechanical as a piece of wet grass so I'm not helping things, unfortunately.

Thanks for that, howver if you guys want to arrange to check it out his number is 021686647. When I saw it it certainly looked in pretty good nick for it's age, but best if you check it out when I post some pics up tomorrow. Alternatively give that cell a call and arrange to take a look.

the one bike shop in bulls, behind the subway off main road, specialises in bandit and hornets and is very very reasonable with prices on parts, a bare engine, no magneto, starter or carbs etc, is unlikely to set back more than a grand. considering bike shops wont sell one with high k's for less than 3500, if the bike is not deregistered, it could be back on road for 1000 with a low k engine.

worth considering if you have a some mechanical skill. righty tighty left loosey an all.
