Valvoline two-stroke oil?

Was in Supercheap Auto getting some stuff for the lite-ace yesterday and noticed they were selling valvoline 'race' 2 stroke oil for $10 a litre ( also Penrite for $15 a litre) - i'm currentluy using Bel-ray at $24 a litre - could be quite a saving over a year - Anyone have any info on these oils ?.

not a problem. My old man has been using it for years also.

I just get 4 liters of tts when they have a 25% off sale. about $20 a liter - good shit too.

While I can't speak for the 2-stroke oils, I used Valvoline for years in my vehicles and it is one of the best oils. Penrite seems to have a good rep as well. As long as you stick to good brands, you should be fine.

Part of the problem is businesses that don't sell bulk lots and rely on sales of smaller units, ie: bike shops, who have much higher margins, or have to sell at a higher price due to not being able to buy at bulk rates.

not sure if it still is, but valvoline's 2 stroke oil used to be mineral im told vs the others which are fully synthetic.

once again ill sing castrol's praises having had 2 stroke honda's since 1994 and only used castrol lubircant products and never had a mechanical breakdown, id rate TTS pretty highly.

also the fact they used to sponsor me helps.... but still, good stuff

according to valvolines website, synchamp is their only synthetic 2t oil

aaaah - i see, when reading the back of the valvoline/penrite packs it mentions made with low ash compounds (or something like that) does that mean it's mineral? if so i'd need to put more in so wouldn't be worth the few bucks saved, also don't want the back end smoking like a hippy who's just found a bag of weed :sick: - the bel-ray is good stuff and likewise i don't think you can go wrong with castrol either, also as edbear mentions, i'd actually rather buy it from LBS - it just seemed $10 was a good deal - on a side note bought some of those armour-all plastic wipes from sc auto while i was there, can't believe how good thay make your scratched/faded plastics come up - bling! worth $10 cos it looks like a new bike in the garage

Last year I ran my racer on Valvoline 'racing two stroke' - $10/L @ Supercheap Autos.
It's not fully synthetic, but seemed to handle a screaming motor well.
Took the exhaust off the other day and it looked clean as. Haven't had the piston out, but a quick look up the exhaust port and everything looked beautiful.

Valvoline 2 S Racing is a synthetic fortified racing grade . It is not a semi synthetic / full synthetic .
It is recommended for high horse power units with special additives to prevent pre ignition, plug fouling , and provides max lube under very stressful conditions .

Rock Oil for one make a specialised two stroke gearbox oil,I have used it for years

Motul 800 now in my 2 old Montesa's
Meany years ago I only used Belray MC1 in those old
air cooled motors never had a nip up or seize...
just make sure you use a pemix oil , oil for injection
systems is deluted so it flows in cold climates/wheather
useing it as a premix oil gives incorrect mix ratios..

I picked up a bottle from Bunnings for around $10 and put it in the RGV, its marketed as a fully synthetic 2 stroke oil suitable to injection and premix and well, it didnt sieze.
What i didnt like about it is that its clear so hard to see how full the oil reservoir is and it doesnt smell as good and Castrol TTS.

Most RGV s i have worked on ran so rich you couldnt sieze them unless you substituted the engine oil for battery acid and put in lawnmower spark plugs
