It's Franco Uncini from about 1982 if I remember correctly, and Wayne Gardner was the Honda RS500 rider who unfortunately almost took his head off. Back then Uncini was the reigning 500cc champ on his Suzuki.

Full story: in 1983, at Assen he was struck in the head by Wayne Gardner's bike. He went into a coma but, eventually recovered. He retired from motorcycle competition after the 1985 season.

did anyone see last year in the motogp where one of the 250 guys crashed and his bike was in the middle of the track and then another one came flying round the corner and hit the bike on the ground and did crazy summersalts.
that looked pretty bad, shattered pelvis wouldnt be nice.
