Photoshop or local gravity anomaly?

the latter apparently - I wasn't there though...

ARGH! The thing that should not be...

But hey, you can jump a semi quite easily - as with all things airborne it's the landing that is the tricky bit.

Fuck a duck!!! That's gunna be a real hard landing :shit:

CRUNCH CRASH AND SPARKS EVERYWHERE

I just wonder if it was his, a mates or a shop demo bike

A few years ago the Grand Challenge included a night transit across Fields Track (a small farm track that turns off in the middle of the Paraparas).

If you've ever taken this road then you'll know the road's condition is pretty poor. But that didn't stop two Goldwings from overtaking me and hauling off at great speed.

They're capable bikes in the right hands.

He's gonna need clearance to land that thing!

I recall video of a group of individuals (who shall remain nameless) aboard Valkries (sp) off road - full paniers and everything!

Remember when Riverstone Terraces previously Craigs Flat was not full of houses and paved roads......lol! Best piece of footage I ever saw!

It should be easy to get it in the air.......landing ....now that will take skill. Me I'd jump off!

mind you it may well come with a air slide out the side like the aeroplanes.

mikkel i think we need a vector diagram

the force of landing must surely be equal and opposite to the force of taking off?

as in if it can get airborne then it can get unairborne.

OR

the force on the bike preflight must be equal to the force on the bike post flight?

therefore i conclude that landing it can only be as dangerous as launching it, the rider has launched it so it follows that the rider can land it.

They're cool bikes but useless in the ruts:whistle:

Fanks babe thats a good find.

Woo Hoo!!! The ex and I used to be in the Gold Wing Riders club - never saw anyone do anything like that!

Just had to share this ...... a Gold Wing quad .....

Oh my god, and this .......

hahaha... Goldwings and full race leathers just don't go! Even if they are doing wheelies :chase:

Cool pic though, I wonder how hard it is to get them to balance

Not too hard. They follow the same laws of physics as other bikes. While they weigh 400kg, the C of G is really low. Two up wheelies are easy.

I've found bigger bikes tend to be easier to balance at low speeds - centre of gravity etc

The ZX11 on the other hand.. well they designed it backwards  - making it handle best at high speeds then working backwords.

Wheelies too..

RIP Ronnie Smith, he was a mad bastard
The two pictures of him stuck in my mind are of him pulling that wheelie and of him all crossed up coming out of a round about front wheel in the air at an un recoverable lean angle.... he didn't recover it. :)

and that just goes to show that physics defies all common sense!

I don't doubt they can jump! But that particular pic is a photoshop.

He looks almost scared - I would be.

TBH I think it is the other way around - 'common' sense defies physics...

common knowledge defies logic though.

So its true .... Wide boys CAN jump.

There's a Youtube somewhere of several Goldwings in California giving it some and scraping the panniers - like in the Valkyrie clip. They are fully cranked over and its very impressive riding.
At RRRS Finn was telling me they did a special sess for the Golwings owners club and had the whole lot doing the hard countersteer 180deg turn, and it looked pretty scary and impressive to see tons of metal on the lean like that.
