Hi Everyone, Wellington Rides

I've just joined and think the site is great. Me and a mate are keen to hook up with anyone in the Wellington region for weekend rides. If you live on two wheels, we are keen to meet you and go for a blat. I ride a Buell XB and my mate rides a Busa.

If anyone can give me some direction for good road rides clubs in the greater Wellington region, it would be greatly appreciated.

Great day to all.

Welcome to KB! If you look in the meetings and events calender/forum there are some organised Welly rides in there. Might see you around.

Hi ya Adulf!
Loads of people out riding in Welly, but not too many planned group rides due to the unpredictability of the weather and most of us are pussys.
There is often a regular Sunday morning ride that leaves the Caltex next to the Rimataka tavern at 10am on Sunday mornings. There's a thread somewhere about, search TCSMR.
Have fun, may catch ya at the top of the Rimatakas some time.:sunny:

And it has nothing to do with the fact that you girls just love to gossip and spend all day in here right ?:dodge:

Welcome Adulf - rides during winter are pretty hit and miss. Cause wet roads are not as much fun !

But on any given (fine) weekend, you will no doubt find some of us at the top of the Takas or Toppy's Cafe in Martinborough.

Just approach people and ask if they are a 'kiwibiker fag' - bound to get the right response !! ;)

Welcome Adulf. Ignore the girls - I do. They're just like all girls, can't stop gossiping.

Watch the Meetings and Events thread. There's also rides leaving from Rimutex. Search for Rimutex and you'll find them.

Hey guys,

Thanks loads for all the feed back. I can completely relate to the comment about changeable weather in Welly. but my goal this winter is to harden up and not take the car to work once (Thats the goal, not sure if it will happen but hey). Go hard or go home is my 08 crie. I'm also keen to do a Taupo track day and get some pointers on getting the buell over, so anyone thats given this a go, please let me know.

See you at the top Welly bikers!

Welcome to the site.

This isn't a Welly ride as such, but a couple of us will be heading up over Queens Birthday weekend. The calendar doesn't show it but there's over 20 going so far and it was a great weekend last year where you get to meet KB'ers from around the country.

I must say that its a real tribute to all of you. Coming along as a complete forum virgin, I've been really impressed to see what a really lively and positive bunch of bikers there are out their. :niceone::niceone::niceone:

Thanks for all your help and I look forward to meeting some of you around the traps.

Hmm. Hi everyone. I'm new here too. Had a good chuckle reading all the posts. I'm also based in the Wellington region, and I ride a Buell XB12SS. I got 2 little daughters, so my free time is somewhat limited, but who knows. I may catch a few of you over the Takas somewhere, sometime. Keep the black stuff down, and the shiny bits up

May as well poke my head in here and say a quick "HIEEEEEE" to the Wellington motorcycling fraternity. With 3 daughters under 5 it's kinda tricky to get out and about, but it happens on the odd occasions and I usually grab a few laps around the inlet at Whitby... Still not happy with the setup of the bike, but once sorted I'll hopefully get out a little more...

Hey new people there is also the buckets on at the slipway on sunday.
Go to the brooklyn windmill, at the endo fo the carpark there is a gate, go thru that and follow the road intil another gate on a sideroad to your right that has signs saying "slipway" and "slowdown and keep left" follow that road to the track.

It is a great day out and is attended by a fair few local kiwibikers.
It starts before I get there and finishes when everyone leaves.

Hey Dude,

I'm a fellow Whitby rider with two small girls. It must have been a cold winter that year, we were all indoors having fun, rather then having it on the road. I do the inlet circuit a bit myself, might see round like the preverbal.

Helloeey there Adulf, we were certainly indoors having fun, but I was actually makign the most of my mother in law having just left after visiting for 5 weeks... ooooo 5 weeks and they went slow, so we made up for lost time and won a prize ;)...

Not riding much at the moment as the suspension isn't set anywhere near right, but give it a few months and i'll be kickin around the inlet a little more... Will keep an eye out for ya and drop ya a PM when I finally make it out...

Hey ajturbo, yep you have just got to love that sound. It would be cool to see how many buells are in Welly for a ride, at this point I think we have 3, you,me and another KB biker. I hardly ever see another one on the road the same time I am.
