The new Shihad album

is absolute rubbish. I thought that the first single maybe just a bad choice, but the whole album is less rocky than "One Will Hear The Other".

I was bitterly disappointed. I've followed Shihad since I was knee high. The last album (Love Is The New Hate) had the anger and balls-to-the-wall rock that you had come to expect from the boys.

There is not one new song on "Beautiful Machine" tha I actually thought was up to their normally high standards.

Disappointed. Back to "Killjoy" then.

I really enjoyed the last one, this one doesn't even come close IMO.

Nothing even comes close to Killjoy though.

Don't think it's a case of selling out, a lot of people thought they did that when they changed their name to Pacifier to break the American market. It's just a weak album.

well, not too bad, certainly not as good as their old stuff, but I'm hoping it'll grow on me. A couple of decent songs on it and a couple on the extra disc.

Yes, Killjoy is probably the best. You Again still sends shivers up my spine.

But they've always been an interesting band to define.

There's only one band who've ever managed to get away with a minor variation of the same theme album after album - ACDC.

Remember without quiet there is no loud. The next album will be noisy again. Don't confuse quiet and melodic with weak. Shihad was a very muted album yet produced gems like Brightest Star and The Boat Song, which contain some of the best lyrics written by a Wellingtonian.

You want some honest antipodean rock music - try Airbourne (waits for inevitable they're just ripping off ACDC comment...)

"Shihad" (Fish Album) was fantastic, and not at all heavy, but the songs were good. But the new one seems to lack in songwriting and craftsmanship. Nthing on it actually catches me, and makes me pay more attention.

It's the sort of album you can have playing in the background, and don't realise it's playing until it finishes.

As you would say Aye. it sounds to me like the endless stream of insipid rubbish constantly coming out of the west coast of the states, when I first head One will hear the other I didn't even recognise it. Not the 'Had I'm fond of. But they like it so I suppose that's what really matters.
