Just looking for some feedback on the new Shoei Multitec helmet. I started wearing glasses about two years ago, for now I don't HAVE to wear them for driving/riding, which is just as well, because I can't put the bloody things on under my Shoei X-Spirit helmet. Looks like it wouldn't be a problem with a flip up helmet.
PrincessBandit VERY sensitively suggested a Golden Labrador...
So, I want to keep riding sports bikes for some years to come, and want the good oil on the Multitec
Thanks in advance

Hmm I wear glasses and I find them easier on my Shoei than my HJC?

Though glasses can be helmet compatible or not as well as the helmet being suited.

Example: My Smith sunglasses fit both helmets fine, my Oakleys fit neither.

Love mine.

Hate the noise (compared to a schuberth S1)

Very easy to live with a multitec

And looks like a nomral helmet once down :)

Sure does look like a normal helmet! I've only seen the Multitec in ads/pics so far... seem like pretty good value at $700.00 too.
My X-Spirit isn't a quiet helmet either.
Might have to check one out. Thanks

Balu loves his; easy to put on and take off with his glasses still on his face.
Me, I'd love to opt for contact lenses again (then I could wear cool sunnies on really bright sunny days) but worry about a lens buckling - rather painful and bad enough to remedy when behing the wheel of a car.
Laser surgery is another option....?

I don't get it at all?
I wear sunnies under all my helmets.
Why do you need a system helmet for glasses?

I dont get it either, I have no probs with my Shoei XR1000 getting my specs in and out of it. Or any other helmet Ive used for that matter, ya must have strange frames or weird shaped head, or BOTH lol !!!!!!!!

I've worn corrective lenses since I was 4 years old... never had a problem with countless brands of full-face,especially when I was four...
having said that,my next helmet WILL be a flip-up...

I wear progressive glasses, they've got to be positioned just so. And my X-Spirit helmet is a good fit... which leaves fuck all room down the sides. The frames I have are those twisty type ones. Might check out some of those Ugly Fish frames, they look a bit more helmet friendly. I FUGGIN HATE WEARING GLASSES

Would agree, wear earplugs for any decent distance.

The visors are very easy to remove and the antifog bit is magic, used to dread riding in rain at night but bought it before 1000 Miler (thank Budda) last year(very wet) and loved it.

Yeah - I have to for reading now too.

The visor isn't any further away with the flip front though is it?

May have to look in to it! Cheers

Slightly OT but I think CAA not to keen on the laser. Was thinking about it but AvMed Dr said forget about it, to much hassle proving to CAA that you can still see.

How do you find those progressive lens's? I might have to get some for the next Class 1

Cheers

Hey Mark, the progressives are pretty good, they take a bit of getting used to, but after that they're fine. I wear a Gallet flying helmet, and I do find sometimes the visor touches the spec frames.
I find I don't get quite so tired with long days in the cockpit, the old peepers must have been straining a bit before I got the progressives

The only one who pops into my head at the moment, is the person who filmed the Auck-eye promo video. He has a CPL.

I'll ask some of the drivers that I know. I seem to have a pilot through here every few weeks or so.

I had laser surgery in 2005. Took me 10 years to make up my mind and be convined of the most acceptable procedure. I had the one sportsmen and the military have (LASEK and not LASIK). Totally liberating. Have had perfect eyesight ever since.

For some strange reason, Mr Shoei doesn't make the Multitec any bigger than an XL. Silly man.

While discussing this I wondered...are they better than traditional full face? Why would you have one over a full face? Do you ever get grief for looking like a police man or a playmobile person?????

Not trying to stir but genuine questions as I am looking at a new helmet soon and so far its a RaidII that is topping the list.....

Quiet is relative, try ear plugs as an option. No need to buy a new helmet because the one you have is "noisy". As for flip face ones, the multitec is nice but try the nolan flip face one, which is veeery comfortable for me or the rjays tour tech which I also found to be quite comfy. The rjays is $300 and might be a good option for the odd day you want to wear glasses instead fo contacts, but again go and try one on.

Just looking for some feedback on the new Shoei Multitec helmet.I'm very happy with mine, happy enough that when I munted the 1st one in an off I replaced it with another Multitec. Very comfy, can wear it all day, the vents are good, the weight is good, the anti fog thingy that comes with it works a treat. I wear glasses and it works well with them, although I actually bought it before I started wearing them. It is noisier than the Shoei full face I had previously, but no big deal as I wear earplugs anyway.
