hi.
i have a sr500 street tracker project - and want to upgrade both brakes - but this post is about the rear.
i have a rear disc setup - but off a yz250.
the rear master cylinder is a nissin - has "1/2" printed on the side so i'm guessing it's a half inch master cylinder.
the rear caliper is a very small one though.

i was hoping to fit a larger rear caliper - like this one:

does anyone know if the master cylinder would be too small?
or any other suggestions?
i will also go the front - but that will be a price job, so may leave that for a while, the bike has more weight over the rear than a sportsbike so i think a better rear may help...

I can't help with your question, but what little can be seen of the bike makes me want to see more. Please?
Also, even though its got more weight over the rear static, surely the weight transfer effect when braking would still apply? i.e. you might be concerned about how much you have back there, but in the real world it might be enough? Just thinking aloud.... and the setup pictured looks bloody good!

the biggest issue around the front brake is that the front hub is from a 93 yz250.
it's hard to get a bigger disc for it.
transplanting a bigger caliper and master cylinder on the front will be pretty easy, it's the disc that's the sticking point...

Howsabout a rethink of the front hub?
Im thinking GB400,SR500,even SRV250 --basicly something set up with that sized disk

yes - that's an option too.
i have a TDR250 hub - uses the old school yamaha 310 disc - same as 90's ducatis.
i may have to change to that if i can't find a disc for the YZ hub.
actually have been thinking of changing to a 17" from wheel as well...

or a streetbike with HUGE front discs but only use one of them (something like a floating 330mm brembo on a spoked rim would get me going) ooh errr.
How have i missed your thread... bike is awesome!!!

you really need 19"s though for the look though, right? or 18's at least..... 17's might make it look abit motard-y?

yep - it has a 19 front and a 17 rear at the moment.
idaelly - it would run 19" front and rear - there aren't many 19" rear tyres available though - especially in a good compound...
