Site upgrade

Upgraded vBulletin to 3.7.

vBulletin have started introducing social networking into their software in this version.

Social groups:
Senior members can create a Social Group and either open it to anyone or moderate new members. They can then post comments/pictures to their group page.

Friends:
Buddys are now contacts and friends have been added. Friend requests must be accepted before being added to your profile.

Profile messages:
Members can now add messages to your profile.

Albums:
You can now create your own album with vBulletin.

Profile page.
Your profile page can now be customized. fonts, color, etc..

Please check through your User CP for all new features and options you may need to set to protect your privacy.

If anything doesn't appear to be working, please let me know here.

How can I send a PM to more than one person in my friends list ? Before I used to be able to tick the ones I wanted to send PM to and click "Send PM". Now when I click on "Contacts and friends" I get the window with contacts but cant see the option for sending multiple PMs. Am i blind ? Help :eek:

There is no quote button, it just enables you to use the quote tag. It's not made to be a discussion forum so only has minimal msg tools.

Thou it is possible to allow Social Groups to have their own forum moderated by the group owner :eek5:, but I'm still thinking about that one.

Do you have to be a grown-up member to get access to it? I've looked twice and can't find it.

I see that the URLs for some Avatar images have changed recently, causing them to become visible again. Being a grumpy old bastard, I use Firefox's Adblock to block images that I find offensive, distasteful or distracting. In other words, most of them. I wouldn't want the image locations to change too often, so I have to keep reblocking them.

Maybe I have not got to grips with the upgrade fully, though my profile page looks like spew now apparently...LOL. Can we still search our PM's and if so how?

He is a new member but i don't recall there being a period of not being able to use that privilege for newbies. Can you just confirm for me whether he's supposed to be able to communicate with others via pm yet? As i said, he can receive fine but the site is denying him reply access.

Nope. Not there!! Able to find it on some profiles. Strange.. Is there some sort of setting to have them visible or not??

OK, have now sussed what is happening: When maximising the page on the screen so it covers the whole screen it is missing the Rep Points tag. If I narrow the page by dragging the side in the next one to go missing is the Infractions, then the Friends and so on. Everything else just changes size to fit the now narrow page. Apart from these tags. And obviously my screen (of some obscure reason that I have no interest in understanding) does not allow for all to be seen. And I would be surprised if nobody else has this problem.

Can we have it fixed pleezzee..

I am talking about what it looks like now. I have not changed it myself, and yet it is different to what it used to say. What is more, it is different again now to what it was when I first noticed the change.

There are 2 of us that use this PC and internet concection to log on to KB. Only one of our details have changed, so I am certain it is not coming from here.

Have a look at yungatarts custom user title, it is much the same, it is a private and very funny joke. For some reason tonight it has changed, at least now you see the "amp" part of it that was not there when I first noticed the change.

That's actually serious advice believe it or not. Your screen needs adjusting and you use the buttons at the bottom of the screen to do that. Good luck though cos they're all different so I couldn't even begin to tell you exactly how to do it.

Hi MT. Thanks for that. And I disagree. I never had a problem before the change. And I have no problems with any other site.

Also, all other stuff on KB is working swell. Only this thingy that causes issues.

Try this on your screen: Click on the sizing icon in top R/H corner so that you are allowed to drag the side of the KB screen inwards. Once this is working, go to your page and look at how first the >> disappear, then the rest one by one. Nothing else goes hiding. In the past I have always had KB open with my Favorites open on L/H side of the screen. If I now do this the >>, the Rep points, the Infractions all go away. Surely this has nothing to do with my "lack of fiddling with the buttons at the bottom of my screen"???

Or even just do that: Have favorites open at L/H side and change the size of Favorites and look at the effect...

I haven't seen anyone else moan about this but ... the strip of video links along the top of the Forums page is horrid in my view.

I guess it's because we go to forums to chat and to other places to view vids and pics. As far as I can see, the selection doesn't change either. Personally, I don't have the bandwidth (5gb/month) to view vids

Is it an 'enhancement' we have no control over or one that everyone else thinks is ok?

Here's how profiles look on a clunky old CRT monitor running IE at 800 x 600 resolution...:baby:

It drops profile boxes over the photo, and most of the profile info tabs down the bottom have to be accessed by clicking the arrow.

I did this just the other day - click on "new posts", select the best forum for your topic (eg rant and rave) from the column on the right hand side. You need to be in the forum first, and once you're there a "new thread" button will appear for you like magic on the top left below the menu bar.
