I note there is a ride later next month to raise funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
But what you may not be aware is that May is actually Westpac Resuce helicopter Awareness Month within Westpac itself and each year the staff try to raise as much for the Helipcopters as they can over and above the money put in each year for the last 20 plus years from sponsorship by the bank itself.
Last year the staff raise $770,000 in one month. This year they are trying to beat it and make $850,000.
I've road raced for 19 of the last 23 years and I've seen the helicopter at the circuit a lot of times, plus like everyone I've also seen it all over NZ. I work for Westpac but I'm pretty sold on the service and what it does so each year I get in behind the fund raising.
I also like my push bikes and when a bunch of staff got together to re-establish the Westpac Chopper Appeal ride where we ride a distance to raise funds, I was in (that and it's time off work to do it)!!
So, if you can't make the Westpac Helicopter ride in June, or you can't wait, why not sponsor me to ride my push bike and make someone sweat for the effort.
