Well after riding in a bad M***** F****** mood I Finally binned.

Been a long time coming, and all I remember is sliding on the ground. And seeing my bike go sliding past. Think I was going around a left hander at about 55- 60 kmph. be for going for a slide... my blinged out hornet looks pretty sad now..

Head light brackets all smashed off. 2 dent's each side of the tank, left hand exhaust torn to shreds. bar ens riped off, mirrors smashed. carbon fiber cracked,
Entire exhaust looks bent and whole rear end don't look like its sitting straight.

gear leaver almost bent in half. Clutch lever worn down to nothing.

I pulled my bike onto me as it went over, but it jammed my foot and I had to let go as I was sliding. My macna Diamond pants held up ok my left Knee is torn, and a bit bruised, spool jaket both elbows are ripped. hjc helmet saved my arse as I remember hitting my head kind of hard on the curb.

So this is going to cost me quite a bit if state doesn't pay out... all I can say is ..... I don't no to be honest I'm more gutted about my bike than anything.

Matey, from the sounds of the damage to the bike and the fact you went head first into the curb I'm glad you walked away and are not injured...ten finger, ten toes and you can move them all is a good thing. Bikes can be fixed buddy.

I know I can't ride when I have troubles on my mind. I can't drive a car well either, but cars are more forgiving. Hope it works out OK.

Guy at reflection says they may want to ryte it off... It can still be ridden but the crank case is heavily scratched gear's seem really clunky don't no why.. gear shit was real bent but i got it back into place just seem to struggle to change gears.

hahah thats whatit was.. I no its just a 250 but hey... I don't really care it was my pride and joy and my exemption for the 600 didn't get approved. So my baby hornet will still be my streetfighter project.

ok State have given me a claim number, and they will "asses" the bike.
But will not cover my gear that is pretty well ripped and torn. because I didn't take contents insurance on my bike.

When I asked on the phone the lady didn't say contents would be my gear, she explained it like I would be leaving things under the seat of my bike. Arrrgghhh.

Oh well what can you do huh..

Household contents insurance will cover your gear. Just make sure it is all under one claim - ie not separate ones for the helmet, jacket..... if they try this tell them it was all done in the one accident and get real. Once excess payment only.

Also with the bike they may get pippy with the modifications - if they are not keen on replacing with the custom parts tell them they are welcome to put genuine stock bits back on - a quick price check should sort this out, stock bits are expensive!

Good that you are basically unhurt.

Watch that gravel - down in Christchurch with a frost and ice they start throwing grit all over the hills and 'danger' areas.

tell the council, they should pay if there was metal on the road and the speed limit wasnt 3okph with road works sign, there all so tyred when it comes to sweeping the roads latley.

Bummer mate - a bin is always a sucky thing - especially when it's a Hornet. I got my Hornet back finally after my bin. Hopefully you declared all the aftermarket parts otherwise they may not be covered.

Bumer dude. At least now you can get some slightly more bearable pipes put on so you wont go deaf.

Go to hear you are ok tho, sounds like you were pretty lucky. We should go for another ride when you get back on the road, which hopefully wont take to long.

:weep: Sorry to hear about the hornet getting biffed like that, sounds like a bit o'damage ... pics? Did you have sliders on?

Hope your body is healing up, use plenty of Arnica and take some pain killers ... anyhow, guess this is an opportunity to bling it out more? :shifty:

hey man, I know EXACTLY how you're feeling right now. Went through the same shit couple weeks ago when I binned my R-6 and went face first into a street sign. Consider yourself lucky that you walked away with just a little bruising. It coulda been ALOT worse.

One thing they teach you in the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course here in the 'States is to examine your mood before you go riding. If your overly distracted by something or pissed off then its a good idea to just not ride that day.

Lesson learned I guess.

Cheers.

If you want an example of the WORST case scenario there was a thread all over the US forums several months back about a dude who got into an argument with his girlfriend and went out riding without gear. He lost control at about 90 mph and went through a Taco Bell drive throuhg window and through the store. It ripped off his legs, one of his arms, and the top of his head. His body finally stopped out in the parking lot on the other side of the store. They found one of his feet up in an air conditioning duct in the ceiling. One of the emergency crew took pics and they ended up all over the net. It got pretty famous over here. Its grotesque but its a sobbering reminder of the worst that can happen when you ride angry.

Yeh i did at the time... Was pretty angry with someone. Been a build up over the past few week's I guess. like a time bomb.

Am very lucky to walk away unhurt and no, I didn't want reminders of the damage to my bike so no pic's ( more like I never thought about taking any ). I just want it back all nice and shiney again.

very sobering thing to happen at a time like that and only but me to blame for it, If I get it back and its not written off I will defiantly be doing the rest of the mods I had in mind for it.

Hey bro, Yes i read your thread on it.. And jeez man Im glad you are ok I hope I never experiance the same, MY crash was at alot lower speed than yours but I don't want to imagine the damage that could happen to me If i crashed at that speed, I was lucky there where no cars or anything like that.

WILL DEFIANTLY BE INVESTING IN SOME WELL KNOWN FRAME SLIDERS BEFORE ANY MORE MOD'S
