Learners Licence, Expiry date changes???

Ok i now have my Bike Learners :wari:
Got my new card in the mail today and it still has the expiry date of my full car licence, 2010. Ok i dont mind that now but that means that ill be getting my full mid next yeah (hopefully) and if it it still shows the expiry as the one from my car licence ill have to go back in 2010 to pay for a renewal licence :Oi:
Soooo have they screwed up and not put a new expiry date on it or am i going to have to fork out to renew it in 2010 when i would of got a new card in 2009 anyway :(
Can someone tell me if this is just a screw up on there end (in which case i will either ring them up and wait on hold for 20 minutes or go down to the AA and stand in line for 25 mins again) or paper pushing at its worst :buggerd: :angry2:

hmmmm, same thing happened too me. Sorry I can't tell you why but am interested to find out myself. I was going to ask when I go to book my full.

The expiry ralates to the license itself. The Car, bike (heavy vehicle if your that way inclined) are just classes that get added to your license. All lisences expire every 10 years and this usually ties up with your "5th" birthdays (IE, 25, 35, 45, 55 etc etc). By getting your bike license they simply added the appropriate 6L or 6R but no other details change... IE it isnt a license rebewal

I sat my restricted about the same time my licence needed renewing so I did it all at once. I had to pay for the restricted test, the new restricted licence, and then the licence renewal. Had to have two photos taken, sign the thingee twice, etc etc. I got a new licence in the mail a week or so later, then three days later the second one.

That can't be right, because mine expires on the month of my 33rd birthday, and I only got it last month, and thats less than two years away :(. I'm sure they just make it up as they go along so they can get more money from us:mad:.

They may have changed it....did you first get your license when you were 23? Cause then it would your 10 year anniversary.

No, Got my license(car) when I was 16,(full at 18) so maybe its 15 years since that date. whatever it is the system sucks, I have to pay for a new license not even 2 years after I sat may full bike test? the more I think about it the more annoyed I get... I've written letters to the LTSA before without a good response, so I wouldn't expect anything good to come of it this time, grrrr. :mad:

Yep, that'd be seven years or so before (that you got you got A license with a class 1) they even introduced the new licensing system....

(I think from memory, its certainly that long since I replaced my old paper license). When did you actually apply to replace your old paper license for the new "photo" license ?

Other than that I actually agree and cant fathom why (when you are completing an almost whole application at each stage of adding a class to your license) they dont "ammend" the anniversary date

just be thankful its a licence or they could just say well take it off you and give you what you already had for another 10 years

10 years from your say birthday of say 15 , 25 ,35 etc
So if your say 23 now and get a licence tomorrow then the expiry date will be either the same as you already have ,if you already hold a licence
if you have no licence and get one tomorrow then the expiry date if your say 23 will be 2010
Once thats done the next one will be 2020

i fully understand why licences need to be renewed every 10 years (to make sure the photo is up to date and your eyesight etc. is all good).
So why, when I did all the eyesight checks, photo etc. for my full licence is it only valid for two years after issue??? it makes no sense at all!

Let me know how you get on Yamasaki as im very curious about this too, id rather not have to pay extra $$ to get it renewed when i would of only had the license for a year.

I got my 1L on 29-03-2008. Expires 29-03-2018. Ten years.

Then, I got my 6L on 26-04-2008. However it also expires 29-03-2018, ie ten years since my license has been issued.

Assuming that I get my Full license before 29-03-2018, even if it's just one day before, I'll need to renew the license on or after that date.

It's all about the money. User pays, sucker pays call it what you like it's all about the money. I got my learners mid March. My drivers licence expires in September. While I was going through the drama for new photo eye test etc for rider licence I asked that they renew my car licence and put on the "F" endorsement that I have at the same time. "SORRY SIR IT'S NOT POSSIBLE"
you have to renew the car licence when it is due. $45.00 for that. "F" endorsement $45.00. Full bike licence $45.00.

My understanding was that of 10 years from the date of your full licence. I got my car full in 2001 and expire 2011. Assume that when I get my bike one at the end of this year (hopefully) it will expire in 2011. Then 2021 etc....

Yep, its fully a money making bollacks activity. Got a mate who got his full 1 Month before his licence needed renewing. They made him pay for the new plastic card for his full, and then again a month later for his renewal!

Yeah, but it wouldn't matter. If he has gotten his Full after renewing his license, he has to pay for the same amount only in the reverse order. I believe the payment for the any class/type of license is called an "application fee" or something like that.
