Dealer: Scooters pay for themselves in fuel savings over one to three years. Even people who don't fit the biker mode are buying, he said.

This is not news to anyone since we see more scooters than a year or two ago, but the article is from the USA where I thought everyone would still be attached to yank tanks and big SUVs.

Indeed,I've sold 6 scooters in the last month to people simply trying to save a few dollars. They are pleasantly surprised to find out just how much will be saved in a short amount of time too.
I bought myself a second hand one last week to commute to and from work

Let me guess- its a limited edition 400 hp model that everyone on the site will be jealous of?

Heh! No,sadly. It's just an old('07) 50cc scooter that was used for a postal route. It will however be sanded down and painted up as a 0049 Poocati...black with red rim tape, obviously! :sunny:

Well, I was working out yesterday, at an average of 30km/litre, I use 33ml per km.

I work 2,5km from work, so use around 166ml of fuel to get to work and back...

just think how much more you'd save if ya walked
or rode a pushie to work.

166ml x 5 = another 830ml saved
thats nearly a litre @$2
i hope ya don't spend it all at once.

Did you stop to think this was a MOTORBIKE forum.... That was the reasoning behind the post... In a thread about scootering and saving gas...

Fuck, imagine that...

I could have been a wise-ass and told everyone to walk or cycle too.... But, I refrained from treating my fellow bikers like idiots and let them draw their own conclusions...

AND, to show I'm not a complete fuckwit, I do cycle to work at least 50% of the time.... Though cycling home at 3-4am in winter, with all the smoke around, aint exactly fun...
