Hi just wanted some opinion on buying a speaker system (second hand system is considered). I am sure there's a few hi-fi freaks here so you input is appreciated.

Budget is really around the $200 mark as I don't need anything really hi-fi as my folks got a nice bose set up if I ever wanted to listen clearly,

But I've been looking around Mirco system seems the way to go but it looks rather budget and I've always loved Midi system but of course, they tend to a bit bulkier.

Don't exactly wanna go the home theatre styles but I know heaps of people are doing it as they aren't really designed for listening to music.

In Melbourne I've left behind a nice set of AIWA midi set, so it pretty much fits my criteria.

What are your thoughts of spending $200-$250 on Micro system, or Midi system? Really what I am after is the best set up for my buck.

Btw, there's so much crap out there it's unbelievable. But Phillips, AIWA, JVC, and Sony tend to be the major contenders.

Only need speakers?

Try computer speakers. I have a set of Logitech Z-2300 speakers and they're pretty good for the money (paid about $180 a few months ago so no doubt they'll be cheaper). Go extremely hard (200 watts) and the quality is good too. One of the better 2.1 systems apparently (2 satilite speakers and a sub).

Plug into the mircrophone slot from an older AIWA unit and obviously work from computers etc.
