does anyone know where I can get another oil cooler for an xj 750 and how much it would cost
and does anyone know how much I have to modify an oil cooler off a gpz750 to make it fit...
cheers

Hardly worth spending the money on it, no disrespect & all that, but in NZ how much does it really need a cooler? Just take the reminance to the welder & get him to replace it with a pipe.

You should be able to make the gpz one fit pretty easy,or any other one that will fit in the space you've got for that matter......or like dave sez, just rip her off and join the hoses together.....

acchewally its even easier than that.
XJ750's in Nz do no need oil coolers. some models come without coolers.
Just take off the filter and remove the block behind it that mounts the oil cooler. then simply screw the oil filter back in.
sometimes the filter bolt is too long--just get one from an XJ650 or 550

noted....its not actually my bike but my stepdads and he is living in whangarei atm...will have a closer look at removing the whole deal tonite then...it should be fairly commonsenseical and not too complicated right?
and isnt there a little pump to pump the oil around the cooler and do we need to disable that somehow? (i have no idea just seem logical)

MM --Ok last bit first --the lil pump is the oil pump and there isnt a second one just for the cooler--and if the pump stops working the thread will read more like
MY XJ seized at 100km/h -what now.
Once ya take the filter housing off ,the housing is held in place by a hollow bolt that the filter bolt threads into.Remove that bolt and the whole unit will come loose. Then simply put the filter back in place -bobs ya uncle
If ya dad gets totally paranoid I have the haynes manual for the xj650/750 at home
actually dya wanna borrow it ?
