Just wondering if there are any info tech workers here into bikes. Seeing as IT is all about tech I would think yes.
Just curious as to whether you have made friends off here etc

I work near a lot of IT people.
Some of them have bikes, so I guess they are ok.

You know that you're allowed to have friends who don't work in IT, right?
Seriously, you'll find plenty of IT bikers around. I think we're about 7-8ish current bikers and plenty of former bikers in my company.

I believe Jim2 works in IT.
You should ask him about it sometime
:chase:
As for best lifestyle - my guess would be Nelson. It's a lifestyle choice and career jobs are far between I believe.

The contracting scene is a bit flat, but Wellington is abuzz at the moment in terms of full time jobs. Gen-i are looking for about 180 people and Fujitsu for around 20. There's lots of movement in the IT market in Wellington. There are lots of jobs in Desktop and Server support, and lots of DBA jobs, mostly SQL and Oracle. Unix support always goes down well.
The South Island is little quieter due to population constraints and a lot of support for the Sth Island is run out of Wellington.
I don't know about Hamilton or Auckland, as I haven't lived up that way for 20 years.
Hopefully Datacom will be looking for at least 1 tomorrow.

best it market are really Auckland or Wellington.
pay be shit compared to what you are use to UK.
Life style really comes down to what you are after. both AKL/WGTN have up and downsides.

Bleedin good place to start your own IT business. I'd never have dreamed of trying this in the UK. As for lifestyle.....traffic is a bit mismanaged in the cities (comparable to largish town in the UK) but apart from that it's all good.
Are you going to bring back your CT110 ?
And where in NZ are you planning in heading ?

Welcome to a more relaxed, hippy-like Jim2.

yeah ct110 comes, nah lol.
prob aucks.
Seems to be a ton of jobs out there - we are certainly are having difficulty hiring the right people (anyone here a REALLY, REALLY REALLY good .net developer?).
As for lifestyle - that really depends on what you are looking to do with your life.
Different parts of NZ offer different living experiences. Some say that the North Shore of Auckland has the best lifestyle - then people come and get huge mortgages for a home - then cant afford to live the lifestyle .... I know tons of pommies around here that complain about that.
