View Full Version : Auckland: Steady as she goes... 24th/25th May

Rather than 'break' my GSXR1000K3 in, i'm gonna take the 'steady as she goes' approach. So far it's just been around town, and very barely got to stretch it's legs on Scenic Drive the night i got it road legal, but that was two up.
Needless to say, the once very racey looking 'im a fast guy' raceAttacks (thanks to twosmoker) are now starting to show some rather fatty chicken strips that The Colonel would be proud of.
So - Auckland crew - who want's to join me for a moderately paced, by still somewhat reserved ride this weekend. Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting, somewhere in the greater Auckland region.
Four options so far - North to Mangawhai via SH16, South-East around Clevedon/Whitford to Kaiaua, South to Coro Loop, or South Westish on SH22.
Who's keen and where should we go?

Who's keen on a BIG ride... The Stranger suggested this
Up 16 to Wellsford,
up 1 to brynderwyn, down 12 to Paparoa,
up Paparoa road to Oakleigh,
up 1 to Old Russell Rd,
Up old Russel Rd,
Down 11, across 1 and 12 to Kaikohe,
Down twin bridges to Maungatapere then Otaika,
Very Short hop down 1 to Oakleigh,
Then back down Paparoa rd and 16 etc
Sunday is looking like the best option so far. I'm keen on the above ride depending on how the bank account is looking. Otherwise Kaiaua looks like it could be a bit of a hit?

This is a HTFU ride... apparently I have a soft cock, but we'll see who complains about the rain first
old man.
Be good to see you lot up this way today. The rain is clearing so you may only need to take half a HTFU tablet to make the ride.

They came to our place for the mighty R6kid to work his magic on my blue lovely! And he did! Thanks Gareth, you are da man! Was a good day. First time out of the house for me really in 4 days, I have been crook, was not sure about doing the ride, so that is why we took the car. That conversation at lunch was a bit of a worry in places

Well, I lost everyone else at soem turn off or another, and things went downhill form there - my RG500 spat a rod on highway 16 and put a hole through the cases and oen way and another totally f*ked the motor.
It was a good day up until then...

Sucks, dude! It really didn't sound good to start with. Hope you get it fixed soon...or is it a write-off?

Mate! What can I say. Have a look at my user note, it gives my contact details. Not that I am a heap of use really, I can come get you, but your bike has no transport. I can call for help though.
I thought it sounded a bit rough at Wellsford, but was reassured that was how it should sound. Sorry, your bike needs expensive repairs.
