Have finally managed to find some 'affordable' Gore-Tex motorcycle gear, but with just one snag!.
The Teknic Monsoon Jacket:
Cordura, Gore-Tex, Vents, Knox Armour, 3/4 length, etc...etc...
Price? US$ 99.99
And there in lies the snag - they are in the US!

I've ordered one via a mates father who is over there, but thought I'd share the tip with you all in case they might be of interest.

if the size is out then chuck it on terdme you'll get ya $$ back,
as for quality issue's that's definately a risk, sometimes you do get what you pay for, and sometimes you get a good deal.

They were US$349 originally, and Boyd Honda had a couple in. They were selling their last one for $279 on TMe, a couple of weeks ago, but was the wrong size for me.
Bought some matching GoreTex pants from the UK for $250 delivered, not quite the same bargain, but still decent value and yes, they were well constructed pants.... ...if just a little large! Better than a little small though, seems I've no problems 'growing' into things!!!
Anyway, my jacket arrives in a week or so, so I'll let you know about the quality.

I brought a pair of Teknic-Goretex pants with armour, back plate & braces on special from Rolling Thunder CHCH for $319 down from $600
as I do a few K's per week they are the best bike paints i've owned & have never let any water in, it's nice to arrive some where with dry gonads
if its the same gear as what you can get from States its worth risking if the size is wrong you're bound to get your $$$ back even selling on here

I said Wgtn, not Kapiti - no issues out there!
But hey, if you're happy to pay over inflated prices, wait 3 weeks for a WoF, tolerate lost service orders, non-delivery of parts and positively false servicing recommendations from 'technicians' who ask "What is an iridium tip spark plug?" then fine.... ....Often wondered who was keeping them in business - but I guess we know now!
No wonder they get away with it!

I said I'd let you know about the quality... ...well, I'm bloody pleased with it! Zips and stitching are all solid and the cordura has a quality finish too. Some nice design features such as the zip on/off extended collar to keep the neck warm right up to the helmet line in the cooler months, and an extra internal zip for putting in a fleece in addition to the normally quilted liner (included).
Heaps of adjustment too e.g.:
- dome adjuster on upper and lower arms
- velcro waist ties
- velcro upper leg ties (bottom edge of jacket)
and vents that can operated whilst riding (tho I might make the thumb grips bigger/easier to find).
Not been out in the rain yet, but should be good given it's gore-tex and the weather baffles look good: RECOMMENDED... ...if there are still some left?
