OK boys and girls - we have an election coming up.

Personally I think "Vote for Tank" has a nice ring to it.

So - aiming to please the majority of (good )people, whilst pissing off the Greens and Maori party as much as possible I have a number of programmes:

Fuel:
I'm pegging the maximum $ value of tax taken per Lt. That way as oil goes up I not taking an ever increasing amount off the poor suckers at the pump. I will peg this $ amount at the start of 2007 before things went fucken stupid.

Cultural issues:
No more treaty of Waitangi. No more Maori seats. Every many (and chick) is a Kiwi. Like it or fuck off to Australia.

Tagging:
3 months jail (actual time served), and full payment to clean all damage done. Failing to pay - assets are seized. Under 18 and no assets - pffft easy - we take them from the parents.

Boy Racers:
Cars impounded and sold for payment of fines. Doesn't cover the amount owed? - wages are docked at a rate allowing them a set amount per week to live off (say equal to the dole) - and all $ earned above this taken to pay for fines. Interest is applied. Passports are noted so they cannot leave country without paying first.

Immigration:
Anyone found breaking the law (not driving offences etc) is deported within a week. All family members that arrived under the visa of the person deported are also out of here.

No immigrants (excluding refugees) cannot claim benefit until they have contributed to the system for 3 years. If no job sponsor must pay for them.

Policing:
Tazers ARE allowed and encouraged!
Revenue collecting is stopped - fines for huge speeds are increased, along with following to close, etc etc etc.

P:
Jail - no if's or but. Amount of time is based on if you are making it, selling it, or just having it on you. We need to make it so hot to handle that people will be scared to be involved.

That's a start anyway.

I also promise to make fun of the Greens whilst in parliament and not allow the Maori party to make everything a cultural issue when its not.

So - Vote for tank. If you have any other policies you would like please post them here. Heck - if I like em' I may even make you a minister of something.

P.S. Skidmark for Minister of biking! ;-)

fines for huge speeds are increased,

WHAT!!!???

I presume you meant to exclude bikes from this.

You also need subsidised motorcycles - to help meet our Kyoto promises of course.

And can I be Minister of Ladies, please??

Oh, and do you need to register under the Electoral Nazi Act to post this?

Minister of ladies is all yours. Its part of the Strumpet division headed up my 007XX.

MY parliament is going to be a fun place to work.

You could say something witty like 'Yank for Tank'.....but that makes you sound like a wanker.

How about this policy - no more government?

Tough love - by Tank. :)

Two goldfish in a tank.

One says to the other "I'll drive, you work the gun."

That can't be right - I don't think goldfish have vocal chords.

I hope there isn't any "road tax" applied on fuel that is NOT used on the roads (racetracks, boats, lawnmowers, etc).

... pissing off the Greens...

:Oi:

Fuel:
I'm pegging the maximum $ value of tax taken per Lt.

I hear your pain, but long term this has a few undesirable side effects. Assume for the minute that the tax take from fuel was exclusively applied to roading and transport. As oil goes up - as it will, just look at the futures market - roading maintenance and transport related activities get more expensive. Keeping the tax take low just leads to poorer roads over time.

Oil ain't getting cheaper in the long term, folks, and it's not such good shit after all. Nothing any of us can do about this, except face the facts and learn to live with less oil. Proposals like this one are the last ditch strategies of a junkie culture desperate for its final fix. The market's sending us clear signals, let's get cracking on with finding ways to not be so oil dependent (so we can keep access to enough to indulge our biking habits...)

And while you're hating the Green and the Maori Party, answer me this: which parties have been trying for some years to get us to face up to a near-term future with less access to oil? Who has predicted the kind of high prices we've seen lately, despite Treasury and MED saying "don't worry, prices will come down"? It always amazes me that people carry on dissing the Greens etc when they've been right about a bunch of things and the mainstream parties have been FLAT WRONG.

Cultural issues:
No more treaty of Waitangi. No more Maori seats. Every man (and chick) is a Kiwi. Like it or fuck off to Australia.

I have no intrinsic problem with no treaty but it was here before me so it's just not my call. You can't just opt out of a contract 'cos it's no longer convenient, and a treaty is way better than the alternatives that were followed in other colonial outposts, trust me. But the way treaty claims etc are handled could be vastly improved, I'll grant you that. Everyone being a Kiwi works even for this immigrant.

Tagging:
3 months jail (actual time served), and full payment to clean all damage done. Failing to pay - assets are seized. Under 18 and no assets - pffft easy - we take them from the parents.

No major problem there. Some niggling concerns about jail converting juvi offenders to hardcore crims, so the devil is in the details of where you put them. Could be expensive. But tagging is not an artform!

Yep, works for me. I'd add "pouring diesel all over the road to enhance your boy racing experience will result in a mandatory and extensive jail term". Did you want to bring in flogging? :devil2:

Immigration:
Anyone found breaking the law (not driving offences etc) is deported within a week. All family members that arrived under the visa of the person deported are also out of here.

Bit harsh on the family members, so no thanks to that bit, but maybe broadly OK for the guilty party. Within a week of conviction kinda rules out appeals, so I'd make that longer, but the principle is reasonable. Implementation would be interesting once the lawyers get involved. How long after arrival does this stop applying?

No immigrants (excluding refugees) cannot claim benefit until they have contributed to the system for 3 years. If no job sponsor must pay for them.

3 years is a bit long, but 18 months or so has some potential. Question though - what do you do with people you've allowed in who don't get to a financially viable position, for whatever reason? Let them live on the streets and wind up the crime stats? You can write whatever shit you like in a contract or law, but if you can't practically enforce it it's just bluster.

Policing:
Tazers ARE allowed and encouraged!
Revenue collecting is stopped - fines for huge speeds are increased, along with following to close, etc etc etc.

Can't comment on the tazers without hearing your reasons for, they seem a bad solution to me. But I recognise cops have a tough life. Subject to appropriate controls they're possibly better than guns. Would like to think we could live without them though. Once again, devils in the details.

On the big fines, yeah OK, and even for bikes. But how to implement in such a way that you could guarantee that revenue gathering wouldn't just creep back in?

P:
Jail - no if's or but. Amount of time is based on if you are making it, selling it, or just having it on you. We need to make it so hot to handle that people will be scared to be involved.

Yes please. Two ticks for that. In fact, fuck it, flog 'em as well.

I also promise to make fun of the Greens whilst in parliament
