New Honda Cb223s!!!

I just randomly found this on Honda website.

I don't think this model has mentioned in any magazines here and also nothing came up with KB search so I thought I should post this.

I don't really understand why they made it 223cc...
Also I don't like how exhaust is painted in Black.

But other then that, it's good looking bike for Learners to start with I suppose?

Price tag is 467350Yen, $1=about80Yen so it would be around $5841.87!!!??????? Hmmmm sounds expensive for what it is...

I've been looking at the CB223 and FTR223 for a while now, wondering why they don't bring them into NZ. They've been around for a few years now. Would be perfect for our market, but yet another example of Blue Wing's strange marketing strategies.

There's some wonderful 250s and 400s made by Honda right now, but we're not seeing any of them. Instead we're getting Brazilian junk shit like the CBF250s (no offence to any owners, but it's heavier, slower, makes less horsepower, less fuel economy than a 1980 CB250RS or Z250 -- where has progress been made?).

They only put development into the top spec bikes to force insecure sportsbike riders into upgrading every 2 years. If they can get away with selling low tech bikes made in cheap places to people who don't know any better, they will do just that. My old Mexican made CFR150 was a great bike though.


The FTR is a beaut alright. Chances are you could ask any dealer in NZ to import one over from Japan. They can do so with most other bikes. I'd consider importing one if they had an XR650 water cooled motor.

Probally the same motor thats used in a their learner dirtbike CRF230...which is a modernised version of the old xr200 lump apparently??

I wondered about the Scorpio and their reason or the 225cc engine. I think we need to bear in mind that we are possibly the last country in the word to have a straightforward 250cc restriction for Learner legal bikes. Maybe the 225cc engines are pandering to some Japanese learner legislation in place or about to come into force.

Japan have different 3stage license system and they are:

up to 125cc
up to 400cc
Full size

And I think in any class after you have license for more than 1year you can pillion(they do have different testing system and they are harder to pass than here so once you get the license their condition is equal to Full licence here)

And under 250cc have no WOF over there. For makers it is possible to make 250cc bikes so I don't understand why they made it 223cc... Perhaps they wanted to save some money.

I was looking at the forum and there are demand for CBF250 overthere! lol

which is the same engine in the TT-r225 entry level dirt bike...

It most likey a cost thing...they can bring entry level machines to consumers by using common engines/part accross many models to reduce development R&D costs etc.

Things are not always as they seem. Sometime "1200cc" bikes are 1157cc in reality. Most 600s are 599cc, and most 750s are 748cc.

It pays not to sweat the small stuff really.

Heh, it'd be exciting, but I don't think the suspension on it is much better than what was holding up my arse when I was trying to keep up with you guys on the gravel and farm tracks on my bike :pinch: Designed for commuting at 30kph, mainly just styling I think lol.

So is that the CRF230 lump then? Have to say, it does remind one of the XR200 mill in appearance.

EDIT: Hell, it is the XR200 engine. I just thought the casings looked different from memory, but compare it with these photos. Popular engine, then; and Honda, if it ain't broke...
