Hello all...

I got a cbr 600 f4i 2001 model.... i bought it in NZ and now currently living in Zambia. The bike was running very well.... but lemme be honest n say that the fuel in this country is crap..

so the bike started acting bit funny... so since no mechanics here that can be trusted..i removed the tank and cleaned the Fuel filter.. was BLACK CRAP inside lol... but cleaned it and fitted back...so fuel filter and pump is checked and all good..

Then changed the spark plugs... it started and was performing well... UNTIL 4DAYS AGO..

the bike decided to Not start... it cries but doesnt pick up at all....all the way till battery dies. I charged battery again and still nothing. I remove all spark plugs and fit them properly...until it clicks but even now.. NOTHING..

I know the fuel pump is working but then i gave to a mechanic and he says... there is NO SPARK !!! now he reckons its an electrical poblem and Zambia got no other CBR 600 f4i - for me to check the Computer..

Now i gotta take it all the way to South Africa... now before i do this..i thought lemme check with the BRAINBOX of nz for some help.. anyone with anything ???

need desperate help..

Thanx

Ok.... Guess all mite b sleepin in nz.
I just removed the spark plugs n checked for spark on them....all of them are sparkin. 2 of them were faulty so changed them.
Then i tried to start but still nothin...so i then thought that maybe the fuel not goin thru.. So i removed the injectors to c if they are sprayin the fuel.. N yes there is that small spray of gas into i think wats called the chamber..
So there is spark n there is fuel gettin into the chamber.,

but its still not startin.. Now i m gettin very frustrated n got no idea wat else to check.

Anyways thats the update so far....can anyone direct me wat else to check or maybe a way to TEST THE SENSORS - the stand sensor or any other sensor that could b makin this problem.

Or could it b the computer ? ? Anyone ever had any computer problem before- if so wat were the symptoms ?

But still no start :( this is very frustratin ! ! I have a buyer who is very keen but it is morally wrong to sell somethin which u know is not workin so i really need help in gettin it started please ,

does anybody know how to remove or go round the safety switches like the stand one cuz i really think somethin electrical problem.

lol... well the fuel is crap as i said before...

BUT i did clean the fuel filter and did remove alot and i mean ALOT of crap from the fuel... blew it and blew it from both sides until could feel that no crap was left inside..

AND wat really puzzles me is I CAN SEE THE FUEL GET PUMPED ... i removed a bolt thru which the fuel goes into the injector and its CLEAN...and does come with a force...so the FUEL is REACHING the chamber as i ALSO TRIED THE Nozzles / injector and did see them SPRAY some fuel so there is FUEL reaching all the way into the chamber (i think thats wat its called)

As i also said... there is also SPARK from the four spark plugs... DID SEE THEM WITH my eyes lol...

So fuel is there + Spark is there... THEN WHY IS THE DARN THING NOT STARTING !!!!!

LOL LIFE SOMETIMES do make u pull your own hair .... i now believe in that :)

Even though you have charged the battery, it may have a dodgy cell. Electronics hate low voltage, and the bike may not go unless the battery is in top shape.

Check your aircleaner is OK - if its clogged there may be poor airflow, then your bike won't start.

You have already checked for spark, and fuel.

Ideally you should check the timing. Beg or borrow a timing light - if the timing is out you may have spark, but you still get to walk.

Borrow a compression tester, if compression is getting low, the bike will be hard to start.

Cheat - use a TINY burst of start-ya-bastard or other ether based starting fluid into the aircleaner.

Good luck, its a long way to push.

Thanx dude for the suggestion.....
I checked the air cleaner n cleaned it usin a compressor... So thats clean.
Bout that compression tester - where n how u test . I doubt in this bush i can get that tester but even if i do manage to get it..How do i test it or any other way of testin?

Battery - well i did put charge it fully n also tried to use the jumper cables n no luck. Problem is im the only one in this whole city or proly the country to have this particular bike so cant like use another bike to test things :(

someone told me to check exhaust - did remove exhaust n still no luck

update now is well its still not startin just cryin ... However in the background its like it wants to start but cant, sounds like something is either blockin it or not enough spark ??? Although i checked all plugs n all sparked properly.
I can hear deep down its like startin half half but not just goin all the way.

Seems south africa is the only hope now - on bright side i can ride all the way from south to zambia ;)

Hi,

I am using a Honda CBR 600 F4i Engine in a small race car that we have made. We are finalising the Engine Mounting Points. Can I MIG Weld the Mountings with the Engine Mounted on the Car ? Will the welding damage any of the sensors ?

Just disconnect the ECU and the battery, the sensors will be fine.
