Great day, marred by me getting rained on over Pyes Pa, and a few ambo calls on the track, but the weather was great.
Met up with 6Chris6, KK, Frosty and Hoon - good to meet you guys. No Lynda Blair to be seen?!?!?!?
A few interesting bikes; an early 70's Laverda, an original, tidy and unrestored 1966 BSA Hornet and, on the track, a hand-built Guzzi special which began life as a Centauro. Was quite quick, too, especially considering the motor is completely stock...

What a weekend!!

Wanganui and Taupo, no rain, great days.
Great effort all the KB racers, MR got into the 42's :gob: (42.84)
And then promptly had a near high-side experience but managed to hold it together.
Great to meet What for the first time, and always good to see the usual suspects.

Yeah good day of racing, bloody top effort for MR, KK, Hoon, and XJ.

Got Mrs Quasi down on the back of the bike, she enjoyed it as well.
I was a bit disappionted there was no track time but oh well was still a good day.
Bloody knackered now though ,I must be getting old the ZXR as great a bike as it is is a real yucky tourer especially two up, Im winging now, I may have to grab a sports tourer so me and Mrs Quasi can go in comfort:weep:

Anyway good to see you all again
Lynda was there with Hamish in the main stand most fo the day I think.

Dude, you should have got Lance's Mrs's pics!! I thought a certain stunt pulled by her was more entertaining than his wheelies.

Well let it be said there were a few jaws dropped as she walked past in her Half a dress lol.

Shit I had a good day -The best part was being timed and Im as fast as KK and Hoon -I just need to get better bloody starts.
Ohh and leaving big black streaks on the track exiting the hairpin meant I couldnt accelerate harder if I wanted to.

Just the bike. I believe the rider is OK, albeit with a sore arm.

Yep it was an awesome day (cept the bit when I crashed!!). The weather was a scorcher and there was barely a cloud in the sky let alone any rain! My bike was running pretty hot with the fan kicking in every now and then. It was also funny all of us lined up under the shade of the trees waiting to be let out onto the track!

This "Taupo Spectacular" is a one off race event and different to the PMCC series. I have to say this was one of the best meets I've been to at Taupo and if I could only do one event a year then this would definately be it! It was really well organised. At scrutineering they even picked up on the crack in my fairing stay and hole in my leathers!

We had 2 practices and 3 races. In the 2nd practice some guy ran into the back of KK as he was nana-ing around sorting his sweeper line. The guy went down hard, KK ran off the track and I had nowhere to go except into the gravel at speed. My nice new front fairing & screen took a smashing (again!!) but nothing a pack of cable ties couldn't fix.

125s were racing with SS150 in their own class and F3 was with Motards however the grid was staggered with motards starting after 10 secs. This meant it was nothing but F3 goodness at the front of the grid!!!
The grid positions were a bit of a "first in/first served" which made sure people were on the dummy grid on time and finished the warmup lap smartly:).

All three races were near identical for me. I started from the front row, out launched most bikes but the 2 fast guys would power past me again before the first turn. Launching is one of my strengths so it was real good that I could take advantage of it from the front row instead of being boxed in further back. Held 3rd for the first lap then the faster guys would reel me in one by one (including 1 or 2 fastest motards) until I settled in my proper place around 7th. KK was hot on my heels every race ready to capitilise on any mistake I made and I didn't fail to let him down :). He took me on the last lap in the 1st and 3rd race when I started to have downshift problems hitting neutral at the end of the straight.

Not too sure what our final placings were because I was too damn hot and lazy to walk to the building to find out. I got into mid 46's and I think KK even did 46.10. However Frostys moment of glory was erased by the red flag when he got past me during the 2nd race....hard luck dude!

Awesome stuff Sudeep!!! I see Nicko was there, how was his times on the K4? What times were the F3 boys doing?I was on Nick's tail for a few laps on the last race before the near high side, then I lost a bit of ground.

I think he would have probably done maybe low 42s or somewhere in the 41s for the day? Not too sure... The guys were saying that, they weren't getting record times yesterday because they were saying that the grip was shit on the track because of too much dust. Going into the sweeper, you had to go through a cloud of dust where you could barely see the other side, which was pretty cool lol (That was the dust next to the track picked up by the wind, created by us as we went past).

The dude on the GSX1100 is fine (relatively) he was rammed from behind but no one is owning up, i can confirm that he was rammed not a pussy excuse by the cracked rear mudguard. He came down on his RHS and elbow winded him, ankle got damaged somehow too (run over?) no broken bones but very woosy for the rest of the day. He promised the wife one more bin and he'd pack it in so he's pretty gutted.

Any word on the guy who's bike burnt (or did I miss that post?)?

It really does now look like something KK could be seen riding (while ablaze of course - No, KK you're not ever going to live that down :msn-wink: ).

Foot mate, Glad to hear hes okay, and yes its a sad story but nevertheless thats racing unfortuantly. I went out there minding my own business only in the bloody warm up laps and a guy rammed me from behind sending me off the track. I could whinge all day about it as i had only just cleaned the bike and i had a rag ready for the guy to clean her up, but i figured i would let them take him to hospital first, and the other 2-3 riders that crashed as a result of him hitting me (poor hoons got a big repair bill). Also i dont know who hit me, dont know which bike he was riding or a name or anything, but hey, nothing against the guy thats racing and we all go out there knowing it and have to be willing to accept that it happens.

Tell him to look on the positives, more time to spend with the wife i guess, shed be stoaked. :)

Oh BTW. Squid was fuken awesome during the wheelie demo during lunch! Fucken ell, he really lives up to his name. It looked REAL mean man! You truly deserved your 1st place in the "Best crowed pleaser" trophie!! His wheelies were one of the most meanest, I have ever seen in real life, no doubt about it.
