Well this was my first race on a SV650
Had been racing 125 GP up until now but had done 2 tests on the SV before hand so knew what to expect,

Superlite/Pro Twin Qualifying:

Out onto track and just ran a few laps just getting into things then started pushing.
Cant really remember to much and had been playing around with front end spacers to sort the sag out thanks Robert.
Passed a few bikes and quickly relized the SV has alot better top end than the 400's but the 400's can carry a slight bit more corner speed which really added for some fun. Was impressed at how insanly fast the SV was when you got into a draft down the back straight.

Came back to pits at end of this session to find out I had done a 1:53 which put me 21st on the grid out of 43 bikes so was fairly impressed with that.

Race 1:

Lined up on my grid realising that far out this is a huge field and also I have never done a proper race launchon this bike so was getting a bit nervous, Lights went up then the lights dropped I wasnt quite ready and wasnt revving enough and got a fairly poor start but still passed a feqw off the line piling on into turn 1 heaps of bikes around and me more to the outside I get pretty much swallowed up back to about 35th place on track coming up to turn 2 for the right I dive up the insde of a bike and make it stick and start chasing down on Clive on his Bright Yellow 400 into the hairpin drop her down a few gears and compression lock her up quickly changing up gears and holding throttle flat on the stop i come around the long left which brings you up to the old circuit here I end up quickly bacing off to get the bike to tip in then open her up and run it right to the rumble strip down the back section to the hair pin im right on Clive now but he manages to break a slight gap as I run out wide on sweeper onto back straight and into a draft being pulled along hooking all my gears into the chicane at the end braking hard and lock it up on down change bike fish tailing as i tip in wasnt pretty.

Managed to hold on and chase down a few more bikes on front straight and pass them last lap I come into chicane chasing down a twin shocked bike fairly quick to be honest and corners quite quickly, Into chicane just get onto his back wheel and tuck my front end I quickly flicked the bar and somehow saved it and pulled out and just got the buy at the finsih line. with a best lap of 1:51 and thats the fastest lap I have ever done at Taupo.

Fairly impressed with that race I head back into pits and get bike ready for next race and go watch my brother race his 125.

Superlite Race 2

This time I knew my grid position and knew I could rev her alot hearder off line I anticipate lights and as red goes out I take off getting a cracker off a launch and getting right up there but once again run out wide for turn 1 this time going back to pretty much last place, The bikes at the back were not going the same pace as what I knew I could and made it difficult for me to make any ground up but no complaints they giving it there all and good on em. Pass a few just around the circuit but could see Clive getting away on his mighty 400, Down back straight I slip stream a SV650 which shot me past him and about 5 other bikes, Come up onto another pro twin and manage to get past him going into the right hander onto old circuit onto back straight and tuck as hard as I can into chicane under brakes once again completly locked up and throw her in bike sticvks really well on the Contis and gave me alot of confidence manage to catch Clive due to straight line speed and tag onto back of him trying to find somewere to pass and on 4th lap under brakes into chicane at back sweeper I get him on the outside he gets me baqck up the insde but I get more drive onto back straight and manage to shoot past,

Into Chicane and onto front straight to see the white flag and can see Eamon (SP) Timmes on his 400 Im catching him but run out of laps and manage to get myself about mid field in the overall track standings and second to last in pro twins but dropped my overall personal best time down to 1:50

Im fairly stoked with the way things went and cant wait and say if your thinking about pro twins its seriously worth it

We sure had some fun Ivan. I suspect that you will start finding some real speed on the SV now man. It was so cool seeing the buzz you had on. I only let you past cos I didn't want to spoil it for you. I'm too nice for racing.
