Like the header says.... July 2nd to 12th '08, a group of us are going to be riding the best backroads, twisties, passes etc in Europe and you're invited. Basically a Sportbike fang starting and finishing near Zurich, riding thru France, Italy etc, we have a support van which takes all the luggage so we just concentrate on riding. 6 to 8 hours per day in the saddle, you can ride any bike you want, MV, Ducati, Aprilia, Jappa whatever, the rule is to Enjoy !! Renting an MV costs about $300 per day, unlimited kms and insurance included. I go on these tours every year and they are my highlight, not to be missed. We normally have a maximum of 15 riders and there are a few spots left. Guys from all over Europe, USA, Japan and NZ make long lasting friendships, stay in nice hotels, enjoy great food and drink, maybe smoke the odd cigar, relate tales about the day's riding etc etc. We also do trackdays (last year MV Agusta invited us to the Hockenheimring and put on an amazing day, 13 MV312Rs and 12 Brutales, all new. The 312 hadn't even been released ! I can supply DVDs of previous tours or answer any questions by pm or you can see info on the tour on www.fast-travel.ch You don't have to own an MV or Duke etc, just the desire to ride a nice sportbike for a few days with like minded guys. Obviously you need a licence and passport. Piece of cake really, so feel free to drop me a line or visit the website. I have written up a couple of these tours in Kiwi Rider magazine. Ciao4now MVnut (aka Kiwi):apint::2thumbsup

I spend about 12000 NZ dollars depending how much extra spending money I want. It's not cheap , not expensive, just unmissable for me. That includes everything (airfares, petrol, hotels, bike rental, BEER etc) Let's face it, how often do you get a chance to ride amazing roads with very little traffic or cops. If you just flew across the ditch for a couple of weeks you'd spend a fair bit and have to put up with Aussies lol so you may as well ride a great bike on great roads. Basically anyone with licence and passport and into Sport riding is welcome. A good sense of humour is a must too. Our main rule is NO alcohol during the day, we drink in the evening, and have fun. :Punk:

Haha...

12K would get me my brand new GSXR600.

I'd be a wealthy an old man if I give that trip a shot.

The way I look at it a lot of people blow several thousand bucks on a quick visit across the ditch, drinking heaps of piss and lying on the beach.....nothing really wrong with that, but I know that I would always choose to ride a nice bike on great roads with a bunch of good bastards. The riding is great, the company, the food etc all amazing and you soon forget your lying on a beach holiday, you never forget holidays like the MV runs. Yeah 12K is a fair bit but if you can afford it, you should grab the opportunity. Once we get 15 riders, that's it. I hope a few of you will join us. This is a bike community after all, and we don't go to Europe to ride a motorway, we go backroad heaven, better than most would even dream. We don't race on the roads, but we don't exactly muck around either. :innocent: We ride fully serviced bikes with brand new tyres. Chicken strips are gone before lunch on day one. Imagine roads where you don't have to touch the brakes for half a tank of gas, perfect. Or an hour of hairpins and short straights, hard work but so good for the soul. In Italy we had cops waving the group thru compulsory stop signs:rockon:, locals in villages so excited and waving we are careful not to run them over, the MV factory opening up for us on the first day of national holidays cos we blew an engine.:shit: I could go on, suffice to say it's worth every cent :first:

You are my new hero. And a complete bastard.

I can't afford it. Besides, I'm going to Burning Man this year and me & the Mrs are going away snowboarding. Doesn't mean I don't want to come though.

Checked out the site, looks like an awesome trip. Your timing does suck a little:Pokey:. I've just started spending all my spare pingers on shiney bits for my RC30.:2thumbsup
Perhaps next year. Just put it in the planner:cool:

That's a bloody good idea. Guess I'll have to try and see if I can catch a conference in that area - wonder what the department will say if I put down $10,000 for 'representation'

RC30.....yummmmm, yeah we go every year so maybe next one, and Metalor, you can hire/ride anything but if you do a factory visit they may make you park a 'different brand' outside the gates hoho, and Mikkel, good theory, work on it:cool:

I just got to thinking about this fella I met once out tramping... He went to a conference in Hawaii during his PhD. All the students where given an allowance to cover accommodation, food, etc.
He saved by tenting most of the time, eating cheaply, etc... - just so he could rent a Mustang.

He caught a lot of attention that way - every now and again being a petrol head reaps some benefits :D

MVnut, I will definitely do one of these at some point in the future. It sounds like my idea of a dream holiday. Unfortuanately I have to finish building my house before August, and then the Mrs & I fly out to Malta for 2 1/2 months on 30 August, so this year is nearly done and dusted for me! Look forward to a report when you get back though!
